Thread: question regarding effectiveness of methods

  1. #1

Default question regarding effectiveness of methods

Has anyone had any luck of permanently removing facial hair through non-laser/electrolisis means?
That is to say, through weight loss and hormones or medicine, has anyone had their hirsutism problem dissapear?

No luck with it stopping or slowing down even. When I was a teenager on BCP that seems to be the only time I had some control over the hair. I also attempted electrolisis w/ no success. Some women on here have had some good results w/ vitamins and natural remedies. Hopefully someone else can help.

Flutamide worked VERY well for me (as an ongoing RX solution, before I turned to laser).

It's not a drug for everyone, however, as it is very strong, and hard on the liver. I had no other real issues, and wasn't on any other meds, so my doc CAUTIOUSLY put me on it.

Try running a search here on the boards on:

    flutamide

    or

    eulexin

(Eulexin is the brand name...flutamide is the generic name...)
Hey, SoulCysters! Need to eat more veggies, but can't find recipes??

Thanks to everyone for your answers!
I was just diagnosed today, my doctor got me back on birth control pills and gave me some good advice and a sound explanation of the issue.
I didn't want to, but I blurted out to my boyfriend what's going on. I just tried to downplay the whole hair thing, even though that's what brought me to the doc in the first place. I hope he doesn't want to go to much more into it than that. I will (secretly) now be taking the time to save up the money for laser. He said he wants to talk more about it later, probably regarding fertility.
I don't want to have kids for at least 5 or 10 years (I'm 24), but we both do want children in the future so he is probably interested in what this means for my fertility. I'll have to tell him when I know exactly. I really appreciate the responses.

I started natural progresterone cream and have been on it for about 2 weeks. I can already tell a big difference with the hair problem! My "mustache" isn't as visible as it was just a week ago. I know it must be the cream!! Plus I am not having to shave my legs as much.

    Good luck
