Default ode to the lost first love

    the new toy

    it was shiny and new,
    naive and uncorrupted by life,
he took it, impressed by it's perfection.
As with all toys he played with it,
and in the process of his play he soiled its once new perfection,
new toys once soiled retain markres of their owners, the toy became his,
his ownership impressed upon it like a brand upon livestock.

The toy became tattered and old with the trials of everyday life,
no longer shand new but older and familiar,
but familiarity breeds contempt and toys are outgrown.
he outgrew the once shiny new toy that i was, the lure of the toyshop window proving too much to resist,
should he have desired to resist!

So i remain, no longer shiny and new,
still carrying his mark however much it fades.
cast aside i must learn that love-play like all others has no permanance

i worte this when i split with my ex a year ago, we were together for 2 years and i adored him! i'm totally over it now but just thought i'd pop this on here incase it helps anyone else who's going through a break up, its a bit depressing but i'm over it now and so will anyone else going through it be!
