U/S Today w/ No Follicules
Hi -
I had a very disappointing doctor's appointment today and am wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if so, what was the next step?. I am a thin cyster on CD12 & took 100mg of Clomid on days CD5-CD9. I went in today to see if I had any follicules forming and I did not. My doctor is an OB and she basically told me that she couldn't help me anymore and I would have to see a RE. All of my blood work comes back normal and I am NOT IR. Has this happened to anyone else? Why aren't my eggs releasing? What will be the next step?
Also, to top off our day, my husband's semen analysis came back with very bad morphology..less that 3%. The count is very high and motility is good, but morphology is bad. Anyone know anything about this? They think he has a vericous vein and he is going to see a urologist next week.
Any words of hope would be nice!

I'm sorry to see that you have posted a while ago and haven't received a reply as yet. I dont have a solution for your problem(s) but I just wanted to say that I feel for you and I hope that you will remain strong and positive and that things will work out for you. Are you sure that you have PCOS? It doesnt really sound like you have the typical blood and body changes consistent with this disease. Maybe you have an underlying problem such as thyroid disorder which needs to be fixed before you can ovulate? Also has you OB measured your prolactin levels? A lot of women cant conceive because they have very high prolactin and no other abnormalities - there is a drug that reduces prolactin levels if this is a problem.
With regard to your husband - look on the bright side at least the count and motility of the sperm is good! Morphology refers to shape, i.e. if the sperm has poor morphology it means that it is abnormal in shape and will not be able to fertilise an egg properly. Maybe IVF is a better option for you and your husband because the docotrs can then select the best sperm to fertilise the eggs and the problem of poor morphology is thus overcome. Anyway, that's enough of me rambling on - best of luck to you and please dont feel like you are alone.

I am a thin cyster. i can stand to lose 5-10 lbs. but i'm only 120lbs. 5'0. anyways, i came off the pill in May and never got TOM. did 2 rounds of provera and nothing so Gyno sent me to RE since he couldn't do anything else.
RE said I have PCOS, kinda not sure why considering no blood problems, not overweight, no excessive hair but I think because I don't get TOM(secondary ammenoreah) it falls under PCOS. okay fine. anyways, he said since I want to TTC, i don't need my period so I started clomid and did a trigger shot.
We found out that DH also has bad morphology so RE did IUI 36 hours after the trigger shot. He said that would help. DH had some issues with that and was upset, so we BD A LOT that weekend and I reassured him that its okay(its funny, they are okay if YOU have a problem but when its THEM, they freak, right?) anyways, male ego thing. so we did BD night of trigger and each day after IUI so we'll see on friday but hopefully.
I took 150mg Clomid and had only 2 follicles at 18 and 20 mm. 2 isn't fabulous and i'm wondering if maybe it will not help next month. maybe your RE will increase the Clomid or just try injectables. which is the next step before IVF.
Good luck

Hello
Just saying hello, from Trinidad. I am 25, 115lbs, found out I had PCOS in 2003 after being hospitalised for symptoms of Appendicitis. Its been a depressing journey, but with a great doctor, great family support and an active lifestyle, I am doing great.

Hello and (((HUGS))) tinaj -
I'm sorry that you arenot having success with clomid. Have you visited the TTC forum, I know there is a thread in there called "Male Factor Buddies" you may have better luck in there with other cysters who have been in the same position.
Good Luck, and baby dust...
Nicole
