I used chromium and felt an immediate difference. My sugar cravings immediately disappeared and it felt like my sugar levels were much more stable throughout the day. This allowed me to change my diet (when I'd been TRYING to do so for sooooooooo long) so eat more healthily. After a couple of months I stopped the chromium and didn't have a set back in my diet - it was fantastic. If I should have another diet set back I'll definitely take it again for sure. I really recommend it. You just have to be a little careful with eating regularly when you are on it though, as it can cause your blood sugars to drop onto the low side at times (I carried around some sweets just in case).

I tried Chromium in my multi-vitamins but didn't notice anything. Maybe I wasn't on it long enough. Sorry I coldn't be more helpful.

I am taking Chromium GTF twice a day 400mcg tablets. I really notice a difference with my cravings, I had to increase to 2 doses a day. One dose I felt nothing. So now I am working on getting my eatting habits in check again.

There's usually not enough chromium in a multivitamin to notice a difference, so a supplement is better. As byclab said, you often have to increase the dose until you notice a drop in your cravings. The tabs I was taking were 2000mcg.

    Thumbs up

I've been taking Chromium for about 6 months or so now and it has made an amazing difference in my cravings for sweets. I was extremely hypogycemic and used to have "spells" with my blood sugar on an almost daily basis. I am happy to say that since starting on Chromium, I have had only one incident of low blood sugar and that was on a day when I had forgotten to take my meds before I left home in the a.m. I'm not saying it's a miracle drug, but it has had a positive affect on me and my life in general and has made sticking to a healthy diet much more easy for me.

I started taking a new vitamin regimine all at the same time . . . (I know that might not be the best thing to do. But I bought what I wanted to try while I was in the States this summer and brought it back with me and just started it all at once.)

Anywho, my combination of stuff gives me 800 mcg of Chromium. I am liking my new vitamin regimine in general, but have only been on it about 2 weeks.

    And FYI:
Several studies show no effect from 200mcg per day, while studies on 800 to 1000mcg have shown effect.

I did o.k. on it, but felt a little light headed toward the middle of my day. I started on the Chrominum GTF, but noticed that time after time I got yeast infections while taking it......changed to regualr Chormium and haven't had one since.

The question I have is that I've heard of genetic problems later on?? Anyone have any info on that!

Ducky - no, I'm not taking it any more. Not sure if you can take it during pregnancy or not, but I stopped taking it at the start of the year because I no longer needed it.
