I'm at uni at the moment in my last year but I'm not your age (I'm 30). Good luck with your studies, what are you studying? I'm a nursing student at Canterbury Christchurch university.

Just wanted to say Hi, as unfortunately not much use to yo as graduated 8 years ago from Manchester, so am in my 30's and TTC.

Durham is a great wee city and i have to say as a fellow blow in (i'm Irish) the people in the North-East are fantastically friendly.

If you ever need some comfort food if you haven't discovered it yet, try Vennels (next to Waterstones) They do the best cakes, scones and home made soups ever.

    Me 36 DH40, TTC since Sept 02
DH has two daughters from prev marriage and his swimmers are fine.
Finally diagnosed PCOS Jan '05, perscribed 1500mg metformin

    HCG levels

I'm renting a place at the moment but I'm in the process of buying a house with a friend.

The only thing I take my my PCOS is metformin, I tried herbs but didn't find they did anything. I've got a couple of good friends who have already been though the stresses of uni. & the course I'm doing I always chat to them when things get to much.

Good luck to you as well. I hope this year isn't going to be too bad for ya.

Hey there Claire. I'm in my final year of uni too, I'm 21. I'm at Glasgow Uni so not too far from you. I haven't posted on SoulCysters for ages.. I tend to just log on during term time, right now I should be writing an essay which means I am spending extra long on the site today! I'm treating my PCOS with Dianette, which has helped a lot with some of my symptoms, and I've been working really hard on keeping active and eating healthily, which has made me feel loads better about myself in the last few months. I'm here if you ever want to chat x

    Smile Thanks

    Hey again,
Cazza - i'll keep that in mind that ur nearby in case i ever need some1 so thanks!
Briggy - i have found Vennels - try not to go there too much cos the cakes always look sooo lovely and i try to avoid them - but was in there a couple of weeks ago - just had a green tea... also last year - i discovered Continental Cafe - upstairs opposite pizza hut - i dont know if u ever went in there - but the cakes in there are amazing - was one reason as well as dianette that i put on weight last year - tho most of the time if we did go in there i'd always share a cake - but they were pretty big - hehe!
Oreo - ive decided not to bother with herbs now - my gyn didnt really see the point and as i have been taking some for a few weeks and havent seen any improvements (i know it can take months) but i'm a student and cant really afford them anyway.
Zinia - thanks i'll keep that in mind - the same with me too - i joind SC in May but didnt really start posting that much until the past few weeks when ive been trying to do a project and essay on the comp - so get distracted everynow and then and come on here - think i'll be v busy once term starts nxt week tho so not sure how much i'll be on, but wud be good to chat sometime. how ru on the dianette?
take care of urselves and thanks again for the advice - its nice to know other ppl have made it thru / are making it thru uni ok even with all the added stresses of trying to deal with pcos symptoms and learning how to get them under control!

Dianette was great for me to begin with, my skin cleared up, hair stopped falling out and my periods became regular. A year on though and my hair is falling out just as much as it used to which is a bit of a shame. I'm considering changing pills soon. Oh and I also put on about a stone, which I have never really been able to get rid of.. but I'm used to it now! Good luck with your studies! x

Hey there, I've just started uni in Belfast, studying pharmacy. Its all a bit overwhelming at the moment, but I suppose I just need time to adjust. I've tried things naturally, but it didn't work. I admitted defeat a month ago and went on dianette. Feel free to pm me, I don't know of anyone going through uni with pcos, so I'm always up for a chat.

I am from Coleraine (in the north coast of ireland) but I am at Huddersfield uni at the minute studying Youth and Commmunity work. I have just found out that I have got pcos and I am finding it tough esp being at uni. Its great to know that there are other people out there and we can support one another.
