    Default Worried :(

    Hiya,

This is my first post. I visited my endocrinologist last week and he gave 5mg dose of medroxyprogesterone to give me my period. He said to take them for 10days before I start the birth control. Its day 5 and NOTHING! Im worried that I wont get it and would that mean theres something wrong? I figured that if I dont get it after the 10 days I will call him. Has this ever happend to any of you? Thanks so much!

My period didn't come until a few days after taking the last pill! I think thats what maybe you should expect. When i doubt, call your dr.

I think that the way this works to induce a period is the progesterone tells your uterus to build up a lining... and then when you stop the pills, the drop in progesterone tells your body to shed the liniing. So you're not supposed to have a period until after you stop the pills. But there are people who will get spotting or breakthrough bleeding while on the pills.

No bleeding while on the pills is a GOOD thing.

You should expect to see AF within a week of stopping them, I think. It's been ages since I took anything like that but I would think it works similar to BCPs, you'd get your withdrawl bleed about the same time after the last pill either way, but the time frame varies from woman to woman.
