Question Need Help, they say I have nothing wrong with me.

I have been have problems with my cycle since high school. I would have it once every six months. At that time, I was put on BC Pills. I took the same name brand for 7 years faithfully. I change doctors and she switched my pills and I begun to spot, I wasn't having what I thought was my full cycle. I then stopped altogether. I aske her what the deal was, she stated that it was the pills I was taking and that I had nothing to worry about and most girls were proud not to have a cycle. I then change doctors because it concerned me. I am married, 25 yrs old, and don't plan to have children right now, but don't want someone to tell me I can never have them. When I went to the new doctor, he said that I needed to switch pills and I did that too. Still no cycle. I have become very emotional, have skin tags, back aches, feel as if I have a yeast infection(I don't), I have very oily skin with acne, and am not interested in sex because of the dryness, etc. He also told me my hormones were low and give me medication for that. I have since stopped all birth control and my family doctor has give me Lexapro for depression. I am worried that something is wrong with me. Tonight, I watched Discovery Health and I fit all the signs and systoms of PCOS. I am now researching this, because I go back to the doctor next week. If possible please give your opinion to my problem, I am open for any suggestions and desperate to find the answers.

It took me 7 years to find a dr to take the time to give me a correct diagnosis. My advice is keep searching for a dr until one helps you! I know it's hard but don't give up! Print out some of the articles and take them with you to your appt. I found that the more info I had to bring to them, the more they took me seriously. It could take you going through a handful of dr's to find the right one but don't stop until you find the answers you need. It's just too important to your health. Kat has some great info compiled on this site and although it took me a while to read through them, it was well worth the effort. The more you know about pcos and your body, the better you will be able to direct the dr to what you need. I understand and I know it's frustrating but keep the faith!

Many of us had to go to MANY doctors before finding the answer to our problems (just like Ashley in the Discovery program. BTW, she's a member here, if you have any questions for her...)

    Default Dont give up!!!

Don't give up, you know your body... I was fortunate enough to have a very awesome Dr. who specializes in PCOS that lives near me. He is the one who started people on metformin for PCOS. I was just recently diagnosed, and when I looked at my blood work, to me it looked normal. That is the problem with PCOS, the Dr. really has to know what they are looking for, and what to test for, it is very complicated. I know my Dr. works with other Dr's around the world, so maybe email him, or give his name to your gyneo, or endo.... and maybe they can get help from him. Look him up on the web, his name is Dr. Charles Glueck, he is at the Jewish Cholestrol Center in Cincinnati Ohio. If you have less than 8 periods in a year, then you have a 70 percent chance of having pcos... Keep trying to find a doctor, and research as much as you can! Good Luck!
