A dear friend of mine was recently diagnosed with pcos and was explaining some of the symptoms to me....and I thought not including the absence of my period I have everything she does. Well she told me that not having your periods was a huge indicator but it wasn't the only one. She has a sister with pcos who has her periods. Anyway I guess my question is when did you decide to go to the doctor? How did you know something was wrong? I have all the symptoms, acne, hair in the wrong places, extremely overweight and can't seem to get it off no matter what I do, and now after having our 3rd child last dec my periods are very irregular I normally have a 29-31 day cycle and but it's been going 33-34 since my daughter was born, right now I am going into day 38 and preg test shows negative. This has never happend before. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

) I started exercising & dieting & gained 8 pounds!! I went to the Dr with a list of complaints & he ran every blood test imaginable. I really think he was leaning more towards Lupus, b/c I complained of aches & pains. Well the only test result that came back elevated was my testosterone (that he ran that day; later my new doc checked lipids & such) He called me PCOS, started me on metformin & the rest is history. I started researching on my own & realized that the dx should've been a "duh" but I thought I had to be obese (I'm overweight), have multiple cysts, and have serious fertility issues. It's a syndrome, meaning some of us have some symptoms & some of us have others, but we all have the same disorder.

) before I got pg. Hes almost 5 now and we never used protection after, and I have never gotten pg. I was going about 5 months between periods when I went to the dr, it took several diff doctors, until finally a NP diagnosed me. Later the dr told me that the fact that I had gotten pregnant on my own increased my chances in the future, but time is still running out. Now I am with a new person and we both want for me to become pg, because while wed prefer to be married first, we know times not on our side.

), acne, hair growth, etc etc. Right now I'm looking into my options as far as medication goes so I can schedule a dr's appointment to discuss it further and get a prescription. Also, I need to figure out how to lose this weight. The thing is, I'm not even sitting around eating junk all the time or anything! It just won't go away. Anyways, I can't wait to talk to more people who are in similar situations. I have been getting depressed very easily lately.
