Default Medical check up for international

I was just wondering...I see most international adoptions mention a medical check up or letter for the adoptive parents. Has PCOS been a problem for anyone on this. I worry that my weight and or other PCOS symptoms might be problem. Thanks for any input.

Wasnt a problem for us...PCOS or weight...we just had to say we were trying to lose weight I think on one of them...otherwise we were healthy to adopt and raise children...

Thanks. I am was going to go to a new doctor since the one I have now just does whatever I tell him, but after three years still has no clue what PCOS is....but he would come in handy if I needed any sort of forms from a doctor. But if the health won't be a problem I can go ahead and see the female doctor who might know what the heck I am talking about lol.

My dr wrote PCOS on our HS (Home Study) medical form but not on our adoption agency (the one that went to China) medical form so it wasn't a problem for us. Not sure which country you're going for but w/ China, If your dr does happen to write PCOS (or something else) as a medical condition or if you're taking any medication, they will have to write a letter stating what the medication is, what it's taken for, if it will affect your parenting, & if it will shorten your life expectancy. I have high b/p so my dr had to write a letter stating I have high b/p, that I'm on meds to control it and that it will not affect parenting or life expectancy. My DH has high cholesterol so his dr wrote something similar.

The worse part of the whole thing was getting the dr to fill it out correctly (had to wait for 2 weeks and then when it was done it was done incorrectly twice so we had to wait longer for it...)

    Good Luck!

Our agency did ask about my weight, all I had to do was explain to them that it was a symptom of PCOS and that my doctor had educated me about how to control it. Pretty simple really, and Colombia never even flinched over it. I do know however that Korea has weight restrictions, just something to keep in mind. I think it's something like 30% overweight for the cutoff. I'm 5'6" and I'd have to be under 198 I think.. I'm 250.

Guatemala doesn't see that as a problem. I am severly overweight and it asn't a problem for my social worker. It wasn't a problem for my coworker. Basically if INS approves you, then Guatemala will too...
