Thread: pimples at certain times of the month?

Default pimples at certain times of the month?

Does anyone else just break out at a certain time of the month? I get it the week between O and my period. During this week, I always have red pimples on the chin and forehead. Obviously, this must be hormonal for me so I'm wondering if acne meds help when cycle/hormones are the reason for the pimples?

    Thanks,
    Shari

I do get them during that time as well. I also break out bad during more stressful times. I'd say acne med. helps but hormones will usually overrule. The med. will lessen it though. HTH

Thanks for your replies, ladies. I think I'll try the witch hazel. I just hate the way my face looks this time of the month, so I'm willing to try anything.

    Take care!

    Hi

The only thing Id say is to let the Witch Hazel sink in for a while before you go out. It kind of has a 'medical smell' but not after a few mins. Plus it's really cheap, at least it is over here, it's about £2 I dab mine on with a cotton bud - after my cleanser, but before moisturiser.

Just thought I would add, Witch Hazel is also my saviour sometimes! It definately helps take out the redness and shrinks those little buggers!

I'm the same way. I don't get 'bad' breakouts during this time, but I ALWAYS get one or two monsters...

The rest of the time my skin is clear.

My breakouts are definitely hormonal, too. AF time is the worst for me, I always get at least a few huge bright red zits. However, I started taking Yasmin about 4 months ago and my skin has never been clearer. I even started af today and I have no breakouts at all (knock on wood). I think I'm in love with Yasmin, lol.

ive never tried witch hazel before but it sounds good so i should try it too!

i find that right before and during af i get really bad break outs, deep ones under the skin. what i find works wonderfully is lavander essential oil. with most essential oils you need to dilute them before applying them to the skin, but lavander is so gentle you dont usually have to do this. however if you have really sensitive skin you might need to. i put it directly on the pimple before bed and in the morning they are usually less swollen and the redness has gone down a lot. it is an anti-inflamatory which is good. it also promotes healing.

I thankfully now only get a zit or two just before AF. This is actually normal for most women, and isn't it nice to be normal every once and a while? Sadly my HS also goes nuts during this time and I've found no real way around that.

I'd highly recommend that anyone concerned with skin issues check out the website http://www.makeupalley.com

Yes you have to register, but it's free and this site has seriously saved my poor skin. Between the skincare board and the product reviews it's an invaluable resource.

My breakouts are also hormonal. I think I'll give Witch Hazel a try tonight and see if it'll work for me too!
