Lightbulb "Who You'd Be Today" by Kenny Chesney

I just wanted to post these lyrics because I think it describes how we all feel when we think about the babies we can't hold until we see them in Heaven.

    "Who You'd Be Today"

Sunny days seem to hurt the most.
I wear the pain like a heavy coat.
I feel you everywhere I go.
I see your smile, I see your face,
I hear you laughin' in the rain.
    I still can't believe you're gone.

It ain't fair: you died too young,
Like the story that had just begun,
But death tore the pages all away.
God knows how I miss you,
All the hell I've been through,
Just knowin' no-one could take your place.
    An' sometimes I wonder,
    Who'd you be today?

Would you see the world? Would you chase your dreams?
    Settle down with a family,
I wonder what would you name your babies?
Some days the sky's so blue,
I feel like I can talk to you,
An' I know it might sound crazy.

It ain't fair: you died too young,
Like the story that had just begun,
But death tore the pages all away.
God knows how I miss you,
All the hell I've been through,
Just knowin' no-one could take your place.
    An' sometimes I wonder,
    Who you'd be today?

    Today, today, today.
    Today, today, today.

    [Instrumental Break]

Sunny days seem to hurt the most.
I wear the pain like a heavy coat.
The only thing that gives me hope,
Is I know I'll see you again some day.

Some day, some day, some day.

this song came out shortly after my m/c- and I associated with it right away...especially the part about no one taking their place-- thanks for posting the lyrics!

Your welcome. The song is really perfect in describing the things we all think so I just wanted to share it with everyone because in a small way I think it helps. It makes you feel a little less lonely when you hear a song that truly touches your heart like that.

OMG! I have had that song stuck in my head all morning. I am on here just looking around, see this post and pop in. Then I realize that the post is about the same song I have been hearing in my head all day.

I never listened to the lyrics before...next time I will.

How weird!! Maybe my little angel is sending my a message?

That is beautiful. I've never heard it b4. There is a nother one by 3 doors down, I very much love this song.
I hope you’re doing fine out without me
‘Cause I’m not doing so good without you
The things I thought you’d never know about me
Were the things I guess you always understood

So how could I have been so blind for all these years?
Guess I only see the truth through all this fear,
    And living without you…

And everything I had in this world
And all that I’ll ever be
It could all fall down around me.
Just as long as I have you,
    Right here by me.

I can’t take another day without you
‘Cause baby, I could never make it on my own
I’ve been waiting so long, just to hold you
And be back in your arms where I belong

Sorry I can’t always find the words to say
But everything I’ve ever know gets swept away
    Inside of your love…

And everything I had in this world
And all that I’ll ever be
It could all fall down around me.
Just as long as I have you,
    Right here by me.

As the days grow long I see
That time is standing still for me
    When you’re not here

Sorry I can’t always find the words to say
Everything I’ve ever known gets swept away
    Inside of your love

And everything I had in this world
And all that I’ll ever be
It could all fall down around me.
Just as long as I have you,
    Right here by me.

And everything I had in this world
And all that I’ll ever be
It could all fall down around me.
Just as long as I have you,
    Right here by me.

These songs are popping up left and right it seems like lately doesn't it? I love both of those songs!! Have you heard the LeAnn Rimes song, "Probably Wouldn't Be This Way" ? It sounds like loss of a SO, but it still hits home (on a few different levels with me).

    Probably Wouldn't Be This Way:

Got a date a week from Friday with the preacher's son
Everybody says he's crazy, I'll have to see

I finally moved to Jackson when the summer came
I won't have to pay that boy to rake my leaves

I'm probably going on and on
It seems I'm doing more of that these days

    Chorus:
I probably wouldn't be this way
I probably wouldn't hurt so bad
I never pictured every minute without you in it
    You left so fast
Sometimes I see you standing there
Sometimes its like I'm losing touch (I feel an angel's touch)

Sometimes I feel like I'm so lucky to have
Had the chance to love this much
God give me a moment's grace
'cause if I'd never seen your face
I probably wouldn't be this way

Mama says that I just shouldn't speak to you
Susan says that I should just move on

You oughta' see the way these people look at me
When they see me 'round here talking to this stone

Everybody thinks I've lost my mind
But I just take it day by day

    (repeat Chorus)

Got a date a week from Friday
    with the preacher's son
Everybody says I'm crazy, guess I'll have to see

Yeah, my beauty school instructor's cousin actually co-wrote that song. Kinda neat, huh? It's a beautiful song and LeAnn did a great job with it.

    That is pretty neat

I wish I could do that......the best I can do is make up words to tunes that already exist....don't think I could get too far that way LOL

Ok, this is weird. I almost NEVER listen to the country station where I live. I think the last time I listened to it for more than 5 minutes was in September. But this morning, I was tired of all of the talking on the other stations, so I tuned to the country station. What's the second song they played but this Kenny Chesney song. I had never ever heard it in my life before. I didn't notice who the song was by (I have one of those radios with the display) until the lyrics caught my attention. So, I'm pulling into the parking lot at work, crying my eyes out. This song is so perfect....
