Default Is actos avaiable in the UK?

    Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone knows if Actos or Avandia is avaiable as a treatment for pcos in the uk? I can not take met as it makes me so sick, I have been taking chromium which has been helping me but I dont think it will make me ovulate like Met or Actos would. I am going to see my GP on friday and I am going to ask him if I can try either of these so I was wondering if anyone in the UK has ever been prescribed them?

I would be grateful for any information

    Take care Carrie

    Hi

I am currently taking Avandia and I have found it to be very successful. I'm like you and can't take met because it made me so sick so I went to my doctor and said that I had heard about Avandia and he looked it up in his book and said ok, we will give it a go. A work of warning... you do have to have regular blood tests to check your liver function, but I have to say it's a small price to pay!

Good luck on Friday, I hope the doctor listens to you!

Thankyou for the advice, I really hope my GP will listen to me. I just relieved that it is avaiable in the UK, I think I will print this and take it with me.

    Take care Carrie

They are all just diabetes drugs but none are licensed for PCOS (like met). So I guess its just down to your dr to prescribe it!
    Good luck!
