every 6 weeks or so...
Sadly I have resorted to shaving and tweezing. I used to have a hairless face and now that fine white hair on my face has darkened and is heavier and fuller. My eyebrows want to grow all the way to my hair line. My eyebrows even grow like crazy. I tweeze the darker course hairs that grow (i have like 5) and I shave the rest. I even tried buff them off with the buffer from ped egg. It works but you have to make sure that is a worn down one as the new one is too rough for the face.
I used one of the buffers on my upper lip when I was in High School. You do have to be careful with that, I ended up buffing a little too much on one side and looked like I had a very mild case of herpes! So be careful if anyone uses that.
I would love to get laser, but I can't really afford the treatments right now. I currently shave my upper lip and chin and use Nair on the softer hair I have on the sides of my face.
Also - I wax my eyebrows every 2 weeks! I know the PCOS contributes to excessive hair growth, but then on top of that I am 50% Armenian and if you look at my family members that are 100% Armenian, they have the full uni-brows and facial hair too. Double Whammy for me!
Good luck everyone!
I shave everyday too, I use Nair hair removal lotion, I'm petrified that I will get hair bumps if I don't. I'm extremely embarrased and wish I could do something, it is very depressing.
I know how you feel and I used to feel that way myself, but now I realize that there's no point in being embarrassed -- vast numbers of other women shave every day too. For me, it's simply part of my regular routine each morning -- no different from DH. If it doesn't embarrass him that I shave, why should I let it embarrass me?
Hi Everyone! I am new to this site
I too shave everyday... sometimes twice a day. I have learned to never put my hair up and when i get my hair cut, i have them cut to my face.
Has anyone tried Fertility Blend? It is an herb pill you can get at GNC or on their website.
Hi, I used to post on here about 3 or 4 years ago when I was young and didn't care about this stuff. Now it's really hitting home.
I tried laser hair removal for 5 months before my wedding in May. It worked but when I didn't have the $ to keep going the hairs that started thinning and disappearing came back, full force! Now I'm back to shaving 1-2x/day.
I have a question for you all - my husband and I have been together for over 3 years now and married for about 4 months. I have never been upfront with him about the shaving... and actually, if we take showers together, I say in longer pretending to shave my legs just so I can do my face in peace. Has anyone else had problems trying to explain this to a significant other? Any suggestions??
Steph - 27
DH - 26

Provera - day 9 of 10, nothing yet...
Remember that laser is really laser hair reduction: when you have the capability to grow a beard, your beard will grow as long as your body is producing the hormones to stimulate it. Laser will have a "permanent" effect only if you keep your hormones permanently in the normal "female" range because at that level there won't be sufficient testosterone to keep a beard growing at the same rate it does now, or to start it growing again after being zapped with laser a few times.
It's very, very likely that he already knows you shave.I have a question for you all - my husband and I have been together for over 3 years now and married for about 4 months. I have never been upfront with him about the shaving... and actually, if we take showers together, I say in longer pretending to shave my legs just so I can do my face in peace. Don't let it be a barrier between you.
I simply don't know the best way for you to broach it with him. Perhaps make a game of it -- get him to shave your legs one day. If he doesn't mind helping you with that, get him to shave your chin another day -- maybe after you've shaved it yourself within the previous 24 hours.
My DH actually loves to nuzzle my chin while it's still bristly, before I shave in the morning -- he doesn't find it a negative thing at all. And a lot of us here who shave every day have husbands who aren't in the least put off by it.
As far as my beard is concerned, in our household it's simply a fact of life. I'm a woman, I'm a wife and I'm a mother. But as far as hair growth is concerned, I've the same sort of hair growth as a male has.
I shave every morning with my DH. We both use men's-type electric razors.
I refer to my facial hair as my moustache or my beard as the case may be.
DH refers to my moustache and my beard.
Our kids will often refer to my moustache and my beard. They're in no doubt about the fact that I'm a woman -- I'm their mother, after all! But in the same sort of way as they're conscious of the fact that I don't have bulging-out breasts like other kids' mothers, they're also conscious of the fact that I've also got the same sort of moustache and beard growth as men do. The kids are very good about it -- if I'm popping down to the local store in the evening they may say "You'll need to shave before you go out, mom -- you're beard's beginning to show." It doesn't faze them at all that I have it -- they'd equally tell their father he needed to shave before going out, if he were obviously bristly.

I live in Florida and I know this laser hair clinic that is REALLY good. There prices are reasonable and the will work with you. If you live in FL call them tell them Lacey referred you and I can get you a pretty good discount. I actually have started working there also.
it's called 1800-Laser Hair. And that is the number. If you do not live in FL they can get you into a clinic in your area. Call them it's worth it.

I am new here, undiagnosed, but suffer from obesity, facial hair, irregular menstrual cycles, etc. i have recently done research on pcos and told my ob/gyn that i was concerned i may have it, but he didn't really take me too seriously, unfortunately. so i am making an appt with a pcos specialist and hopefully i can get some relief!
anyways.....i am here making my 1st post b/c I am sooooooo depressed and rarely leave the house if at all possible lately b/c of my facial condition.I started tweezing prolly in high school infrequently, but once i was in my 20's i had someone mention to me i had an awful lot of facial hair (in a not so nice way, jerk) and i started shaving then b/c of increased insecurity. i cant remember when it got to the point where i had to start shaving every day, but thats where i'm at now, and its very emotionally painful for me. i am soooo embarrased, i have told NO ONE about this, I feel like I'd rather die! I need to shave once a day to keep my stubble at bay on my chin (both white and dark coarse hairs on chin) i also shave moustache daily, but i could probably get away with less frequently, because it is still pretty fine hairs there ( i probably could also bleach, but since i shave the chin, i figure i may as well shave the stache too) The chin area makes me feel so self concious!
Im at stay at home mom now, but times are tough and getting tougher, and i realize i will probably have to get some sort of job soon, and this mortifies me~!!! The problem is that i need to shave the chin daily, because of the horrible coarse stubble, but razor shaving irritates my skin so badly! my skin can only handle it once every 2 days or so, sometimes every 1.5 days. when i shave, i have to shave many times in the same spot until i feel ZERO stubble and then i am ok, but then my skin is irritated. I have dropped off from friends, family, husband, parties, social events, work, you name it all because im so self conscious! i have to plan my days ahead of time in case i do have to go somewhere, and i try to never have something to do 2 days in a row in case i cant shave b/c of irritation. This way of life sucks! I cry myself to sleep and hate my life b/c of this. i tried home waxing, it took off layers of my skin, leaving me sticky, irritated and raw and then i had a red dry patch for days, on top of hair growth!
until i can get diagnosed and treated for my condition, are any of you girls out there as sad and desperate like me to try different things to help??? i know of no one else that has this problem, from what i can see (cuz i stare at peoples faces now to see if they have signs of shaving or excessive hair)
oh and also, since i only shave my chin and stache areas, i see a line where the soft blonde fuzzy hair stops on my lower cheeks and then you see perfectly smooth skin once i have shaved. now, just the sight of that line makes me self conscious!! i cant win!
i really, really, really need some encouragemt ladies!! i am so glad to have found this site tonight, at least i can talk to other people about this, it makes me feel not so alone. thank you for reading my loooooong testimony about myself. any tips, suggestions, help is very much appreciated!!!
thx girls!
First of all, welcome to sc -- and you can be sure that there are plenty of people can relate to you.
There are plenty of us here who also know what it's like to have to start shaving -- and then to have to start shaving every day. And yes, we know how embarrassing we felt it and how difficult it was to even think of revealing the fact to anyone else.
Once your beard growth gets to a certain coarseness and strength it can be very difficult to make waxing work without damaging or destroying the skin, as you've discovered. I've got a very sensitive skin and for me the answer has been a Philips Norelco rechargeable razor from the men's range, with rotary-type heads. Remington also do rotay-head models, but the Philips Norelco ones have a longstanding reputation for being non-irritant. I normally shave every morning, but if I'm going to be out late into the evening I shave again in the early evening and never have any irritation.
You're right about the line where you stop shaving being visible from close-up if you've got fine hair over the rest of the area where a male would have beard growth, though I doubt whether most people look that closely. You could always shave your whole face -- very easy with an electric razor.
For me, the great thing about the rechargeable razor is that it lets me keep in control of the situation and it takes less time to shave than to brush my teeth.
Hisgirl - I'm right there with ya'! I started sprouting chin hairs in high school and as you can imagine it has only gotten worse. Most of mine used to be thick blonde and I tried laser, but it only works for dark hair. Mine have increasingly turned black - I now like to think I have a salt and pepper beardI do shave every morning - started probably about 7 years ago. Plucking them out was taking hours a day and waxing made me get horrible ingrown hairs. At first I felt bad about myself and sometimes it bothers me now. I just try to be positive - most people have something about themselves they hate and feel like everyone else notices, when in actuality no one probably does or if they do, oh well!
I also get that line of fuzzy blond hair from where I shave my chin. I use the Finishing Touches hair remove - $10 at CVS - like a tiny mini electric razor - can't cut yourself and no bumps- good for trying to "blend" those hairs in. Also, good for other fuzzy hairy areas!
Steph - I have been with my husband for 8 years and have never told him I shave. We have talked about my hairy chin, but he's never asked and I've never offered. I'm sure he probably knows- I wake up with a beard, and poof! after a shower it's gone. And I've done the same shower thing! haha! I don't know how to tell you to approach it, but just thought I would let you know you're not alone![]()
