My DH, DD and I just got back from visiting his family in Nigeria. The brothers and sisters were/are so wonderful! The assembly hall was out doors with wooden benches and they could not be happier! I thought the roof was going to come off when they started to sing. I could not even hear myself sing!

We have about five couples/families going to next years International Conventions. We did not apply as we do not have the extra income as of this time. But would love to go in the future. Are any of you going?

We are not going, but my husbands parents, brother and sister-in-law are trying to go. My husband and I were in a English Congregation in Hollond before moving here and there were several brothers from Nigeria that attended as well. They were all so sweet. One has moved back to Nigeria since he has gotten married and another one married a sister from Boston and now lives there.

Nice picture. I would put a Picture of my husband and I on the site if I could figure out how to do it

    Default Hello

Well it is comforting to find some of my spiritual sisters that are going through the same thing as me. I was just diagnosed with PCOS, so i'm still a little confused about it but i have been praying to Jehovah to help me understand it and take care of it so it wont ever affect my service. At least we know it is in a way temporary, as the new system is so close.
I guess I should introduce myself, My name is Iris. I am 23 and have been baptized since 7/4/1998. I live in Texas and attend the spanish speaking congregation. Hope to get to know you all a little better.
    With lots of Christian ,

Elizabeth Your little girl is sooo adorable.

I'm interested to find out what the goals of the sisters here are in regards to health. I know that we can't expect to have perfect health in this system, but are you TTC? if so what do you plan on using? How are you dealing with the ins and outs of PCOS? Iris, how do you plan to keep your joy in the ministry, and deal with whatever complications you may have? I guess what I'm wondering is how much treatment and testing etc are you willing to do? In my congregation there are 3 other sisters who have PCOS, but they are all going the diet and alternative remedies route. I don't think any of them are ttc. its hard to tell though. I don't really tell very many people in my life that DH and I are ttc, because a lot in my family wouldn't like it. sooo many questions. Any input???

Helloooo my Sisters!! So awesome to see this picking up
I too have another cysterSister in my cong. she's only recently been diagnosed so I'm trying to encourage her.
It's so important to keep focussed on the more important things at this crucial time because PCOS can distract you, make you a bit down and cause you to focus more than is necessary on yourself. You have such a positive attitude, Irisa.
I agree too with Amber, Catarina is gorgeous, she's 26 days older than my little one (if someone can explain how to get photos on here I'll post one!).
At the moment my spiritual goal is to aux. pioneer during the next Memorial season, I find being out with my family and my Sisters really helps to think about other things and it's such a priviledge. My family goal is to get to a weight that allows us to TTC on our own (was 196lb, currently 173lb aiming for 145lb), my immediate goal is to get all those Christmas songs OUT OF MY HEAD!!
Amber we were able to have Tyla by me losing a bit of weight and also going on Clomiphene(Clomid), it took two cycles for me to get pregnant and once I was I had severe Hyperemesis (major vomitting) because a) Clomid increases possibility of getting it, b) PCOS increases possiblility of having it c) having a girl increases possiblility of having it and d) having Samoan heritage increases possiblility of having it - however, if you have hyperemesis, it usually means you have a strong baby I lost 20kg (44lb) in the first 3 mos of pregnancy, but gained it all back (plus pregnancy weight) in the next 6 months!! lol
I understand about not telling too many people, the more you tell the more "knowing" looks you'll get whenever you don't feel well, and the more "innocent" questions you'll get trying to dig to see if you're pregnant yet.
As for me and my family, dh's fam are Witnesses (excluding a bro & sis) but I'm the only one from my side. As Jesus promised though, I have so many spiritual Mums, Dads & siblings, I really don't feel alone

    Hi sisters!

My name is Felicity and myself and my husband Jeff have been in the truth pretty much all our lives. I was baptized on July 1st 1995. I'm 24 and live in England.

I have PCOS and endometriosis - both severely - so it's hard to keep going sometimes - but i just think about how near we are to the new world and that soon all these problems will be gone!

I am the only sister with both illness in my congregation so it's tough at times. I am going through it at the moment as 3 sisters in the congregation are pregnant - 2 of them being my close friends. I have been told by my doctor that i have to lose weight (i take metformin) - around 80lbs or so before i can consider ttc. Mind you i haven't been given a very good chance of conceiving anyway with having 2 illnesses. I have to work hard not to get upset about other sisters being pregnant as everytime i see them i feel sad. But i am so thankful that i know that although things are wrong for me in this system that i can have a lovely family in the new one!

Anyway, just wanted to say hi to you all!

Welcome Princess5. I too am having a hard time with seeing others having babies. One sister in my hall has PCOS. She got pregnant about 1 month after starting Met. I've been on it for about 3 months now. I guess I thought it would be that easy for me. My husband and I have been trying for 1 1/2 years now. I'm hoping the Met will be able to help with that. I think what the hardest thing for me to see is when some sister that DID NOT want children get pregnant. I always pray to Jehovah to help me to deal with this. I have even come to tears before during the meeting when I saw sisters with their babies. I just suck it up and try to pay attention even though it's hard sometimes. Sometimes I sort of wish I had never told anyone that I was wanting to have a child. I'm always getting question about "when is your turn??" I just never know what to say when they ask that. I guess they feel that I'm 27 and my husband is 25. We should be starting soon.

I have been baptized for 10 years and my husband for 7.
