    Default Cinnamon for Insulin Resistance

I just read some information on taking cinnamon supplements to help with IR, cholesterol and abdominal fat. Have any of you tired this?

Actually I have... If you mix some cin in with plain yogurt or cottage cheese its suppose to level you out esp if you spike or hit a low. Its worked for me anyway...

Well I just bought some supplements today. It says to take 1 pill, twice a day with meals. It's worth a shot right?

I'm taking 1/2 tsp cinnamon/day... I would have to say since starting it I haven't been spiking or crashing as much.. I usually throw mine in with a smoothie or in tea...even with cream cheese..

Hi sds, I would personally prefer to buy actual cinnamon, powder it, and put it into my cooking. That way you know you're getting all the nutrients. Good luck!

I sprinkle a little bit of cinnamon on my cereal in the morning for my IR. I think it does help.

I just started taking a cinnamon capsule...2 twice a day. funny thing happened the other day. I took it, and drank a little water, and suddenly I coughed and the cinnamon blew a little out my nose, and it burned a little... thank god no one came in, that would have been a site

Wow! I'm so glad that you all have posted. I went out and bought some (pills)at lunch today to try. I am not a diabetic-I just have PCOS with IR. My sugar has always been normal so I hope that this doesn't cause it to fluctuate.
Have any of you seen any weight loss with the use of cinnamon? Or maybe a decrease in the abdominal fat?

I don't know if it's the cinnamon or other things I've been taking (apple cider vinegar and vitex)... but in the past couple weeks I've lost 5 pounds... my belly is the only measurement that has gone down.. and I haven't really tried to lose weight... I started the vinegar and the cinnamon around the same time.. so I don't know which to attribute it to... so it is possible that it helps... I think it's because it helps with the IR... which causes us to store the fat in the abdominal area... so that's probably how it helps us lose weight there...

I too use cinnamon and it seems to not only help in aiding suppression of food cravings, but also its supposed to help you lose weight (its in many diet pills). I'm not sure about the insulin part because I have no way to test mine ATM but when I use it regularly I seem to be able to lose weight easier. I sprinkle mine in cereal, use the sticks or powder in my tea and ill use it in smoothies and yogurt too. Anything sweet I will try and use it with, and I'm still trying the vinegar..but cinnamon is so much easier to get down!

Cinnamon tea is probably better than taking cinnamon powder, just because more of the medicinal ingredients come out when steeped in hot water. If you enjoy it, then go for it!

I've been taking cinnamon tea for a few weeks and my tummy has also gotten flatter, I think! I also take green tea for it and combining both seems to do no harm x

I love cinnamon, no matter what its medicinal properties. You can buy giant(I mean like 2 feet!) sticks at asian food stores for really cheap. Now I have a reason to buy them other than they look cool =)
