I'm confused

And I guess it doesn't help that neither my husband or myself can make decisions to save our lives!

We went to the doctor yesterday, our first post-m/c appointment. Our doctor wants us to try again...as to WHEN to try again, he says it's a catch 22. He says you ARE most fertile after a m/c, but in his opinion there is a little higher risk of another m/c if you become pregnant right away. He approved of a plan for us to NOT prevent for the next three months and then if nothing happens, move on to Clomid (and possibly IUI and trigger shot) after three cycles.

My confusion is in the responses I've gotten here on SC. I wouldn't have asked if I didn't truly trust all your opinions...it's just that I'm getting a 50% "oh try again right away" and a 50% "wait a few cycles" response. In the end, I suppose we're going to do what we want to do anyway, but....

Does anyone know the percentage of women HERE who have conceived right after a m/c? And of those, how many have had another m/c?

I'm probably worrying over nothing, since it took us 17 years to conceive the first time?

i would say if you trust your ob go with what they say. you are right there are a lot of opinions on here, and that is what they are OPINIONS. they may be their ob's opinions based on them. mine said wait the 3 months the chance of mc are higher in that time frame. a lot of ob's seem to have the opposite opinion. i trust mine so i follow her advice. decide if you trust your dr, if so, go with the dr opinion that has been made with your hisory and circumstances in mind!! I don't have real numbers for you. It does make sense that waiting a few months might give your body more time to prepare for another pregnancy.

I know that Sheri got pregnant shortly after losing Mary Catherine, and she lost that baby in an early M/C. I can't think of any other stories that might help you, though.

I think emotional healing time is important. I'm convinced grief killed my little tiny one. If I'd had time age-wise to wait a year, I wish I would have. I wanted to conceive the minute after our loss, but in the end it was better to experience a pregnancy after several months had passed. There's no "right" answer, just what others have thought in hindsight. You and dh are the ones who will decide and will reap the benefits and drawbacks together. It will never be easy to go through, but I don't think I've seen evidence that m/c is more likely right afterward. Good luck with this!

I tried right away after my m/c but it took me some time to get pregnant again.

Personally, I would wait a few cycles for mental healing (knowing what I know now).

I think that you need to do what's best for you and your hubby.
