    Question NuvaRing anyone?

My OB/GYN just started me on the nuvaring and I was wondering if anyone else has tried it? I have a really bad history with BCP's (weight gain, rosacea, menstral issues, ...). I know the nuvaring is suppose to contain the lowest amount of estrogen. However I started 1-13, I was crampy before insertion like my AF was coming. However since insertion I have not stopped with the cramps and body aches, moodiness, increase appetite and definite weight gain (7lbs). It has been a long time since I have been on BCP's and I am just wondering how long I should give this. I would love to hear any feedback or personal stories.

Hi there! My doctor is also suggesting the NuvaRing with me, as I have had previous problems with other BCP's. Not good to hear that you're having such bad cramps. Did your dr tell you that it could be the side effects of the Nuva Ring?

Unfortunately no. Everyone seems to think that I am having such cramping pain because I was probably fixing to have AF when I started NuvaRing. (Another factor could be our crazy weather we have been having a lot of overcast and rain, and our barometric pressures are changing). However I am doing much better now. (And it is suppose to be sunny and 60 degrees tomorrow...yeah.) I am already starting to see improvements with my acne, which is great. If you are interested in more information you can go to www.nuvaring.com. Maybe it can help with your decision making. Thanks for responding to my post.

Been there done that... Didnt' work so well for me....But they say everyone is dif. My RE even told me it wasn't heathy to be on since the concentration of hormones were sittin so close to all the baby makers...

I had an aweful time with my acne the wieght gain Oh and the mood swings... Boy did I wanna step out of my body and kick the crap out of myself...

    Good luck with your decision

I've now been on the NUVARING for two months. My only complaint was that my first AF after the NUVARING was long and heavy. But the first time I took a BCP way back when I had the same response. My body probably wasn't use to all the hormones is all. I love the ease of the NUVARING, and I've had no physical complaints.

I've been on it for almost a year now. I have to say I love it. The first month I think I got a kind of bloated but since then nothing really. I have endometriosis too so my period cramps were excruiating. Now on the ring, if I have an hour of light cramping its a lot. This is the first BC I've used since I went off the EVIL Depo Provera in 2001. I was nervous at first but its been great for me.

I started the ring almost a month ago, I'm concerned because I started my period last wednesday and I still have the ring in, I'm supposed to take it out in a couple of days, is that normal? I don't really know. What do you guys think?

It took me about 2 cycles to adapt my body to the ring cycle. Now its like clockwork. Give yourself a few months to readjust. I have very light periods now.

I have been on the nuvaring for about 4 months now and I'm not sure how I feel about it. I've not had bad cramping, but the mood swings are unbelievable! I haven't gone even a day in the last couple of months without wanting to curl up into a ball and cry because I was angry or frustrated or upset at the drop of hat with something. Has anyone else had these problems? Also, I had high testosterone levels before going on the ring (I was on Yasmin before) which me RE said was unusual since they normally go down on the BCP, but I am wondering if the ring could have affected this and maybe made them go up more?

In addition to the ring, I am on 2000mg Metformin/day (been on it for about a year) and also 88mcg Levoxyl/day (hypothyroidism... go figure), but I'm not having any luck with the weight loss. My RE put me on the ring in the first place because she thought it would help with the weight loss. Is anyone having luck with other birth control meds or any other meds for that matter, or have any suggestions for coping with the mood swings?

I started the nuvaring 9/14 and by 9/25 the Dr. told me to remove it because my body ached all over. He said it was because of the progesterone the ring was releasing. This was the 1st BC method I've been on in the last 10 years. The Dr. ordered a FSH and TSH blood test along with a pelvic ultrasound. I have not gotten the results back on either yet, but on the ultrasound I noticed the tech writing "CX Cyst" and "cyst" a couple times (does anybody know what CX Cyst means). I also had a pap done while I was there, it came back A Typical cells with HPV negative. My friend works at the office so this is why I found out the results, I'm supposed to talk to the Dr. on Monday. The reason I went to the OB/GYN was for the following resons: 1) irregular periods 2) excessive hair growth on face, chin, neck, arms, back...all over 3) overweight 4) acne (at age 33!) 5) getting pregnant seems to not happen either (but I do have 2 kids that are 12 & 10)

Has anyone else had any of these symtoms!!!

I have not used the Nuva Ring myself. However, my sister did and reported how much she loved it until she got pregnant while using it.
