    Cool 5th M/C

    Hi,

Just had a D&C today for 5th loss. Been ttc 3 yrs. 1st loss was 16 weeks(unexplained), 2nd was blighted ovum, 3rd we saw the h/b at 7 weeks then gone at 9, 4th a chemical pg & 5th we saw the h/b at weeks & gone at 8 weeks. I got diagnosed 1.5 yr ago with pcos, insulin restistance & hashimotos & was put on 1500 mg metformin & synthroid. 1st pg was natural but tried clomid & IUIs(for 2nd, 3rd & 4th pg) but after that I seemed to be immune to clomid, femara so went to follistim & IUI & got pg the first try(this was pg #5). I also used crinone progesterone & baby asprin this time & increased met dose to 2000 mg. Early 2005 I lost 20 lbs(was 30 lbs overweight) by going on low carb. I'm eating regular carbs now but weight loss hasn't changed. I got my insulin glucose ratio levels to almost normal. I got a hsg, laprescopy, hysteroscopy, 3 ovarian drills. I got all immune & thrombolic & genetic tests done & all normal(most tests per dr sher institute but was able to get through RE). I haven't done DQa & HLA matching cuz' RE thinks its useless. RE also says IVF likely won't help my case(getting pg is not the issue - sustaining the pg is) plus we don't have enough money to do both ivf & adoption(if needed). we'd save for adoption instead of being disappointed with failed ivf.

But we do want to have 1 of our own so can you ladies advise if there's anything we have missed maybe alternative medicine/chinese medicine/accunpuncture or anything else at
all. You can also e-mail at sherise@rediffmail.com

    thanks so much
    Sheri

Sheri I'm so sorry for your loss. During any of your pregnancies has your doct checked your progesterone levles (I see you've had some genetic testing)? I'm sorry I dont have a lot of suggestions for you at the moment. It sounds like you've tried a number of things. I wanted to let you know that my prayers are with you.

Sheri - I am so sorry about your losses. It breaks my heart to read what you've been through these past few years. I can't offer you too many insights about staying pg, but I just wanted to tell you that you and your dh are in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry! I don't have any advice, but I hope you find some answers soon. I've heard of one cyster going the Chinese Herbal Medicine route and sustaining a pregnancy. At this point, I'd think anything would be worth a try, if you can take another heartache. ((Hugs)).

I am sorry I don't have any advice. I just wanted to say you are in my thoughts and prayers. Is there any way to measure the quality of the eggs or sperm? I read somewhere about acupunture. I had went to a chinese herb store one time, I even bought the infertility pills, but I couldn't read the directions, they were in chinese.

    Sheri,

I am so sorry for the losses you have gone through. It must be so difficult to go through this and not have the answers you need.

I'll share a couple of ideas with you...hope it might help. First is progesterone...did you doc test it with your pregnancies? The second thing is something that happened to me. It's unusual to lose a baby after seeing the heartbeat, but it happened to me too. I had a couple of chemical pregnancies, then during my 3rd pregnancy, I saw a strong hb at 7 wks, then no hb at 9wks. I had had an HSG with my previous doc, and it was all clear. I went to a new RE after my m/c and he was suspicious as to why I lost the baby after seeing the hb. So he did another HSG. It turned out that I had a uterine septum that was missed by my previous doc. I was told that women with septums have an 85% risk of miscarriage. We can get pregnant, but staying pregnant is the problem because a septum takes up space and doesnt have sufficient blood flow to support a pregnancy if it implants there. I had a surgery to fix the septum, and it was an easy surgery. Now I'm all fixed up. So that may be something to consider.

I pray you find the answers you are looking for
