Thread: Why do some members have tickers and others can't get them?

Default Why do some members have tickers and others can't get them?

    Like me?

I have tried every single ticker maker (baby-gaga.com, lafemmebonita.com, tickerfactory.com, snugglepie.com etc) and it doesn't matter if I chose a huge ticker or a measley (sp?) little thing, SC will not allow me to have it. I've tried doing it on AOL and IE. I've tried HTML, using that mountain-looking picture box, inserting it as a link and I can't get a ticker to work....but I read these threads and I see some people with 3 and 4 tickers and huge pictures in their signatures. So I know it'll work.

    just makes me wanna LOL

is there something that I'm missing or not doing right? If anyone can help me out, I'd be grateful!!

Are you sure you tried using the HTML code instead of the UB code? That's the only way I can get a ticker to work. For some reason, the UB code is always rejected and I'm told the ticker is too big...(no matter how tiny the ticker is).

Good luck, and congratulations on the pregnancy! I hope to see you with a ticker soon!

I'm sure I tried it, maybe I didn't do it right? I put the html code in the body of the signature box. Is that right? thanks!!

thanks kibbie and pheonixraven! i tried it, and although i don't get the "400x150" pixel error, the ticker itself won't come up. i'll just keep plugging away at and see what happens. thanks again!!

    GoogleBoop,

Looking at the link that is posted in your siggie where the ticker is supposed to be, I think you don't have the entire thing there. At the end of it there should be more brackets with [/IMG], or something close to that, and possibly something else. At least, that's how mine looks when I go to edit signature and see the actual link, rather than my ticker.

Go back to tickerfactory and make sure you copied the entire link.

I've found a lot of people have tickers and big pictures from before the problems happen, and have not changed them... if they do I should suspect they would have the same problem as we're having!

It's annoying seeing others with them when I like you have tried pretty much everything to resolve it, and no matter what I try I've had no luck (and I pretty much know everything about PC's and HTML!!!!)

The only ever way I see this being fixed is for the board owner to just alter the width of the signature pictures we are allowed, instead of it being 400 x ? (whatever) make it 450 and then no one should have these problems....

This has gone on for months now....

I had my tickers up before all the changes. Now I cant even go in and change a number. Both me and dh are a year older and I cant do anything about it unless I want to change my tickers. I know it is frustrating. I hope you are able to get yours added.

yeah, Debbie, I saw that. It was missing the last ...so I went back and made a new ticker and pasted it again and for some reason, when I go to save my signature...it disappears again. Below is the html code ticker factory gave me. I just can't figure it out. No biggie though. I'm sure something will work out. Thanks though!!!

Google, when you post the HTML info, does it begin with "img src=" ??

Hang on...I'll make you a graphic to demonstrate it because when I type HTML code in the body of this message, it doesn't show up because the browser is trying to read what I type. BRB

(Okay, I did a couple of screen captures for you...I don't know if this will help your problem, but it's worth a try!)

I created a sample ticker for you, using your due date....the ticker looks like this:

And this is a copy of the code I pasted in order to make that ticker appear:

This is a screen capture I did at the TickerFactory site. When you configure your own ticker, are you copying the HTML code from the box I labeled in this screen capture? (Look for the red lettering)

I've found that it only works with Firefox web browser and when I tried to use my IE browser it wouldn't update. I have had no problems with my ticker since then.

Also when you paste it in, press SAVE not preview. If you preview it first you have to DELETE the ticker and REPASTE in the code. HTH!

Hmmm...Kristi might be on to something there, since I also use Firefox.
