Thread: Very low bbt's and natural thyroid meds

Default Very low bbt's and natural thyroid meds

I am currently taking levoxyl tsh is 2.25 which my doc says is fine However my bbts are very low and no one seems to care. My md said it is fine as long as your tsh level is at this stage, He never bothered to test my t3. I have read that your thyroid level should be lower so I have added a few natural things like b complex vitamins, and selenium, and I may possibly take kelp. My gynecologist said that lots of women with pcos with hypothyroidism have low bbts, like its normal or something

I want to take something like armour or thyrolar and my md said he wouldnt do it and gynecologist said to talk to my md about it. I called another dr, an immunologist my grandma sees who also uses herbs and non traditional treatments regularly. He will see me and I basically dont care at this point if it pisses my other dr off or not. I am sick of having puffy eyes, feeling bloated, sleeping 10+ hours at night (usually 8 to 9 at night and a few hours later I want a nap again).

But to make a long story short, too late , will natural thyroid meds bring up my bbts? Mine are on the average b/w 95.5 to 96.9. This is being covered up around a very thick flannel blanket with flannel sheets.

    Hi Autumn

I'm very interested in what you find out about hypothyroidism. My daughter and I both have PCOS and have some symptoms that lead me to believe that our thyroid hormones might be on the low side. Our lab results come back in *normal* ranges although there is some controversy now on what exactly normal should be. I believe that normal can vary from person to person and that in our case, the hormones are a bit low. I'd love it if you would let me know what the naturist doctor tells you, also did you read that the kelp, selenium and b-complex vitamins could help out with hypothyroidism? I've done tons of research on PCOS, but haven't really done much on the thyroid as docs tell us we are ok. I'd appreciate it if you'd email me at mstares@roadrunner.nf.net as I'd like to talk to you a bit more on this. Thanks in advance,

    Margaret

    Hi magpie

How I was able to find out about these things is a book titled "Living well with hypothyroidism" by mary j. shomon. It is so helpful. The trick I have found is finding a doctor that is covered by my insurance that will run tests on t4 to t3 conversions. Which is what I feel my problem is.I'll email you tonight about it.
I ended up having to see an immunologist, I found they are pretty good with trying different things. They are just hard to find. I live near a big city and I only found one.

If your docs won't run t3 and t4 tests, try the website at www.healthcheckusa.com and order your own labs. Get the VIP Profile Plus II which is a comprehensive panel with some things plus tsh, t3 and t4, and it's around $100... then you can take it to any doc you like and shove it under his nose with some good literature that you can get from the gals at http://forums.about.com/ab-thyroid/

    Good luck.
