Question On provera and no period!!! Please help

    Hey all:

I have a little situation. My doctor put me on provera so I can get a period. I started on Sun. night and the purpose for me to be on it is to have a period before I started my birth control pills. Well it has been 5 days (that I was on provera) and I still haven't received a period. I don't know if I should start my BCP or not. I have been on provera twice before and after taking them the second day I usually get a period. Since it is Saturday the office is closed what should I do? (Any advice is greatly appreciated)

i've taken provera once: i took the provera pills for about seven days and then when i stopped taking them my period came. if i was you i wouldn't start the bcp yet, i'd wait til u've taken your last provera pill, your period should come soon - maybe give your dr a ring on tuesday?

Thanks for answering, I actually only had to take it for 5 days so I am off them now. My last day was yesterday. How many days should I expect to wait until my period comes.

If you just stopped the Provera yesterday it can take a few days to get a period. I've heard some woman say up to a week. No need to worry just wait until you do start before beginning the bcp. Good luck!

    Hi!

With provera, if you have not gotten a period within 1 week, of stopping the pills then call your doctor and ask what he/she would like you to do... In my opinion 5 days is not long enough. From what I know, I think a woman should be on it for at least 7 days but I usually take it for 10. I can get a period anywhere from 1 day after to a week. But my DR always said wait 1 week until you call about not having a period.

Usually AF comes within a week after you take the past pill. Last month, it took me 3 weeks for AF to show...yes 3 weeks probably stressed related. It will show.

anywhere from 2 to 14 days.

Normally you have a period and THEN start your BCP's after your cycle. I would call to confirm with your dr though.

If after 10days no period, call your dr. But it can take up to 14 days and sometimes longer. With only taking 5 days worth of pills your lining is probably still building up, so it may take longer. The "normal" dose is "usually 7 to 10 days, sometimes as long as 12 days on the provera.

Don't stress out. AF will get here....

    Default More Questions

Thank you all for your answers but I have more questions!

    Problem:
My bf and I had sex in the middle of March w/o protection of any sort. This is the first time this has happened ever! I went to the gyn on the 6th of April and I took a urinalysis test which came back negative. Lately I have been feeling very tired, nauseous, feeling funny in my tummy, and mild headaches. Could it be possible that I am pregnant because the test was taken too early? If I am not pg does anyone know why I still haven't had a period and I feel this way? I am going to the gyn tomorrow to take a blood test but I think that they think I am just paranoid. But I know my body and it has never taken me this long to get a period while being on provera.

Sure it could have been to early... if no AF soon then call up the DR and ask for a blood test... Blood test most likely can't lie
