Default Question about side effects w/ AF

Can anyone help me? Have a question about my least favorite topic medications.

I have been on Metformin since Sept 05. Recently like the past 2 months I have had some different PMS symptoms before my AF. I have had some pretty horrible experiences with PMS symptoms before but never anything like this. Its not that I can't deal with them. Its just that it isn't typical for me. 1st on is Extreme breast tenderness and even some change in the shape of my nipples. 2nd cramps accompanied with gas. And extreme fatigue? Is this normal w/ this medication? If so is it normal for it to take several months to show up?

    Thanks!

eliie anna- sorry to hear you're not feeling well. Hun, would it be a possibility that you could be pregnant? Some of the symptoms you describe, like really tender breasts, could be early signs of pregnancy. If not, then I would discuss your concerns with your doctor. I did have fatigue in the beginning with my medication, but it did pass. The meds can take some time to affect changes for us. HOpe this helps, and again, if this doesn'fe feel right to you, by all means call your doc.

Hi! I hear you about the PMS problems! AF showed over a week late and I am super tired, cranky and just feel like crud! I did a hpt just to be sure and it was negative. I have only been on met a month.

Just hang in there - I am sure things will get better - at least I hope so, I am not sure how much of my attitude Dh can handle! Unfortunately he gets the majority of it! Oh the joys...

Oh Ellie, reading your story I feel like I am reading my very own. I have been on met for 2 months now and I've had 2 af's since. Before the Met I never had any signs of af before it arrived but the last 2 I have really felt pregnant. I am getting very crabby and my breasts are getting so sore for about a week before af comes that last time I came home from work crying because my breasts were so bad from leaning over my desk all day.My dh even asked me if I was pregnant because they looked so full. I have only been pregnant once and we too mc'd so I know exactly how you feel.
I have an appointment with my RE in a months time so I will ask him about it.

I wish you the best of luck.

dazsue: i'm so sorry to hear that you have had the same awful experience that I have had. The breast tenderness have kept me up sometimes. I toss and turn a lot. But anytime that I was on my stomach ouch! My DH has learned that during this time of month to deal with my mood swings. These symptoms make me so crabby! Like you mine start the week before and usually carry right into my AF. So for two weeks out of four I feel like a total *****. I hope with time this gets better! Best of luck to you!
