Default Vesuvius is about to erupt....

    On my chin!!!

I have a gigantic zit about the size of a nickel on my chin. It actually feels like a conglomeration of zits has banded together to form this gigantic red lump.

I do not get zits like this - I break out just a little right around O and again just before AF, but with little greasy whiteheads. This is like....well, I don't know how to describe it. It doesn't have a head to it - so far it's just a big, sore lump - actually, I can feel that it's 3 or 4 zits all joined together.

I have a professional conference to go to in about a week and I'm afraid it's going to erupt and be all nasty on my chin right then. I've tried hot compresses and I've tried a baking soda and water paste - what else can I do?

    Hey,

Well, I get those ALL the time. They're actually cycsts, not normal zits. I had one about the size of my pinky nail right on my chin last week, and whatever you do DON'T POP IT!!!!!!!!!!! You'll just get a nasty scar, and push all of that pus and infection deeper into your skin, and it'll prolong how long it lasts.

I put acne cream on mine, and they eventually go away. I find that antibiotics also work. Otherwise, there's not much else you can do but wait it out. Maybe try ice on it, to shrink it down.

    Hope it goes away soon!!

I had one like that on my WEDDING DAY. I hardly ever get pimples, ever. And this one was freaking huge... Because I was about to walk down the aisle, I popped it and concealed it. I tried just covering it up with makeup but it didn't work at all... the easiest way I've found to pop a monster pimple is to poke a tiny, TINY hole in the white head and squeeze gently. Don't eradicate the whole pimple... but squeezing out some of the pus will relive pressure and pain, and in my experience it will start to heal... and as long as you don't keep picking at it or try to dig the thing out, it shouldn't leave a scar.

Oh, and by the way - if it doesn't have a head yet, keep a compress on it as hot as you can, for as long as you can stand. It should start to come to head well enough for you to pop it.... if you want to pop it, that is.

There's a thread somewhere on some miracle zit cream stuff that apparently works wonders.. you can get it at walgreens, that might be worth a try?

My mom swears by vicks vaporub.. or, if you can find it (not likely!) there was this old stuff called "Prid drawing salve" and man, that stuff worked WONDERS on zits. Given, its a nasty tarry gunk, but it worked!

    Good luck babe

When I get big ones, I put Desitin cream on them overnight. It relieves the swelling, redness and they usually just go away without coming to a head.

When I was a teenager, my Mom had this jar of black stinky stuff from a health food store. I think it was just called Black Salve. It smelled pretty bad, but worked wonders on zits. A little dab on the zit, cover with a small bandaid and leave it overnight, the zit would be a lot smaller, less noticeable by morning.

If all else fails, see your doctor. I had one on my forehead, which during this time my husband so affectionally called me the "cling-on", anyway. I went to see my doctor and it was a cyst. He gave me a shot, in the forehead, and it went away by the evening. Good Luck!

I second that about seeing your doctor, if it becomes really bothersome. I think they shoot it with cortisone or something.

You can put a little hydrocortisone cream on it too, that can reduce the swelling.

So sorry, I hate those buggers!!!!!
