Default Anyone get pregnant JUST taking met?

Just wondering. My doctor seems to think that there is a high chance of me getting pregnant in the next two cycles having just started Metformin. I thought that seemed a bit ambitious and I don't want to get my hopes up. But I was wondering if anyone here has gotten pregnant while taking only Metformin? Thanks for any answers.

I'd be interested in the answer to this too. We are not officially TTC ---- yet, but we aren't overly careful either (never needed to be, nothing can happen when you don't ovulate!). We plan to start officially trying in the next year or so, I'm hoping we will be successful without lots of other drugs. I'm only taking the Met, and if possible would like to keep it that way.

I can't speak from personal experience, but my RE warned me when he put me on met that he has had a lot of patients get pg after losing a little weight and going on met. I know my cyles are textbook now after 8 years and I've only been on it for 2 months.

    Thumbs up

Yes! I conceived our 2nd son back in 2002, and all I was taking was Met. I can't tell you how surprised and thrilled I was pregnant without going through Gonal-F injections or other fertility treatments (did that for 1st son).

It's not at all an impossibility that you could get pregnant!

Im on it now, I dont know about getting pregnant on just met, but I went eight months without a period, I usually go 4-5, then my doc put me on met ER, And i started my period 7 days later, than I had another one the other day, making it 44 days from the beggining of the last one, as far as im concerend that is a miracle, so i would guess that it really works wonders...................

I started taking met in june 05 i think. and got a period on july i think then august, and then september i believe, cant mind, but i remember i started getting period regular, so my last period was september, october & november passed and then onto dec and no period nothing whatso ever, i just assumed that maybe i was just late again. cause i could go 6months or so without a period.

So was at a docs appointment getting blood etc and just by chance i told her that hadnt had a period since sept and was waiting to go onto hospital to check and see if my tubes were blocked but they wanted me to have a period first before they done this, she said have you not done a pg test? I said 'no' i didnt think there was any point and that i can go months without a period as the doc knows, but she took it upon her self to do a test and within seconds it was positive.
I went for a scan the next week but sadly no hb@9 weeks. Im still finding it hard to get over it, but the main point is i actually got pg on this, i think its a wonder drug, i really do.

After 2 or more years ttc then after taking met for 3/4 months i was pg. Just shows you!

With met i didnt lose any weight, what it did though was help me not put on anymore weight.im on 2000mg daily (4 tablets)

Just another story to help you on your travels to mommy hood. Started to TTC in 3/04. Ok, not trying but not protecting. I took my first Met pill on 1/23/06 (1000MG per day), AF arrived on 2/4/06 and lasted the appropriate 5 days. AF also arrived within a day of when it should. I was worried to see what would happen in March since Feb was a short month. I kept waiting for AF and then began to worry that the Met wasn't working. I took a HPT on 3/11/06 and low and behold, I was PG. I am now in my 15th week. I did lose about 15 lbs so that could have help too. Good luck and hope your dreams come true soon.

I got pregnant just with Met, but it didn't happen within two cycles. I got af back within a month of starting Met (at 500mg), started ovulating after six months and then got a BFP in my second ovulatory cycle. Good luck!
Met rules! It cleared my brain fog, brought back af, helped me lose weight, made me o' again, and helped me get pregnant. My first Metformin miracle is now 5 years old, my second (surprise one) just turned 2.
