    Question empty stomach and IR

    hi everyone

    i wanted to ask you cysters that having an empty stomach for a long time does that effect IR ? I mean does it make it worse ?

    with IR it is best to eat a small snack in between meals because empty stomach for too long can cause your blood sugar to drop and then spike when you eat again...sorry i can't think of the specifics of why exactly this is bad, but all of my PCOS books advise against it...try some fruit and nuts or a yogurt between meals...

    Thanks for the reply ... i dont eat much thats why i was wondering if thats bad for my IR i would start eating more properly now. thanks travel grll

    Most advice I've read is similar to travelgrll's--eat small, frequent meals with protein (dairy, meat, nuts) to keep insulin/blood sugar levels even. Levels in people without IR stay fairly level on their own; we have to work at it by adding protein to each meal/snack and 'grazing' more frequently! Hope this helps.
