Alright, so a little history, just so you'll understand where I'm coming from (pardon the rant I feel coming on!)
At 19 I was diagnosed with a Terratoma (a genetic benign tumor) which weighed 10 lbs and some oz when they removed it. My Dr at the time told me "you'll probably have some problems with the other ovary."
SOME PROBLEMS? I started growing facial hair; my periods, up 'till that summer like clockwork, started coming every 2- 3 weeks; I can't lose weight and despite all my efforts to conceive, I can't. I have acne (darnit! I'm 31! someone make it stop!).
I did manage to lose some weight, about 4 years ago, through regular excersize. I lost 50 lbs, then got involved with a great guy and quit going to the gym (ah, young love!) and gained it all back.. I've been going to the gym again for 2 months now, doing spinning and turbokick, as well as light weight work, and Ive been watching my diet. Ive gone from 292 to 314. Isnt this backwards?
I am also hypoglycemic (fasting blood sugar is normally about 57), my triglycerides are through the roof, and my darn knees hurt all the time (even at 6", 314 lbs is a huge amount of weight!)
My dr has me on spirinolactone, and lexapro, hoping maybe an attitude change will help my weight loss. Ive tried low dose birth control (I get hysterically witchy on it).
So here comes the question: Does glucophage work? Will it help lower my insulin production without making my blood sugar even lower? Will it help me lose the weight if I'm excersizing and eating right? My Dr. told me she didnt want to try it because she was afraid it would lower my blood sugar as well. I ahve to do something! Can anyone help?
Also, does anyone know whether a complete hysterectomy would help me?
Thanks!
