    Default Combing meds and herbs?

Just wondering if it is okay to combine a normal prescription treatment for PCOS (I'm on Yasmin and Spiro) with some natural supplements? I was thinking of adding Saw Palmetto and Evening Primrose? Does anyone know if this is safe to take while on bcp and spiro? Thanks.

Many herbs do not "get along" with BCPs. If you are interested in supplementing I would definitely get some guidance from a professional. You could try your Dr but an herbalist/acupuncturist or an naturopath would be your best bet.

I never had any trouble taking supplements while I was on BCP or any other meds. It is a good idea to look up the drug (just google the name of the drug and the word 'interaction' and you should find something) and see if it specifically says "do not use this with such and such" and you should be ok.

Be sure and take B-complex vitamins while you are on BCP (megadose - it is water solulable so you will not overdose) because it seriously depletes your body of B's. Most women need to take vitamin B's anyway, but even more so when on BCP.
