After over a decade of trying to concieve I met

    Dr. Grant Schmidt (in 1989)

I think his address is still

    4830 Knightsbridge Blvd.

    Columbus, Ohio

    phone (614) 451-2280

At that time metphormin was not even thought of for pcos but I had three cycles of pergonal and two pregnancies.

I've sent a lot of people his way and they've never been disappointed.

    Good Luck!!!

positive pregnancy test on 5-8-2003-What a surprise!!

    Default hello

I tryed to respond to the pm but it wouldn't let me because my responce was too long...It only took me a week to get in there!! Can you beleive that?
It all went great!...I was really happy with him....We talked for a while and I fessed up about self medicating with metformin and clomid...I figured he would lecture me and give me an attitude about how dangerous it is etc. BUT he didn't!!! He actually kind of laughed about it (I think it is the way I brought it up to him)lol I told him my history about not Oing before and thinking I have pcos and how since being on the met how I am ovulating and etc. He took a look at my charts and told me they were beautiful...I told him I was concerned about having thin lining due to the clomid...He said not to worry about that and it isnt THAT common to have thin lining when on clomid...but it can happen. So on to what he said....He said since the met seems to be working we are staying on it! and staying on clomid!!! He said well...It looks like you have done pretty good with your meds...and chuckled a bit....I do have to do an fasting insulin test and some other blood work....and I am getting a p4 on monday. So for now he says he wants me to try 2 more months on our own...and then If I am not preg by January then on to iui which is $300 Plus u/s but he said usually ins covers the u/s He told me I could wait on dh's SA because we just got preg a few months ago and he doesn't anticipate it being THAT low if it is ....He said we will see his numbers anyways if you dont get preg and we have to do iui....So that is it...I am legally on my met and clomid....lol It is so weird though...It became so real when I walked in there and signed in...I see all the womens names and what they are there for saw severel iui's some FET ...Wow!!! Oh yeah...One more thing....I have a family history of neural tube defects...My first pregnancy (before dh was in the picture) ended in a late m/c due to a defect...and my mothers first born was still born with nueral tube defect...I knew I was supposed to be on more folic acid then normal...I told my last gyno that and he blew me off and said I was fine...Well my dr said he was WRONG! I should be taking 4mg not 400micro whatevers....In a nutshell is is A LOT MORE I had to get a prescription for it....I always knew that ob was a freaking quack! Thank god I dont go there anymore! Ok...Well I need to run!! Stacey

That's so cool that the waiting list to get in wasn't insane! I think I may call. My issue is this...I am in a lesbian relationship, so I can't really have 'tried' to get pregnant for 6 months before deeming myself infertile. I mean, that would be *expensive*!! What I need is someone to help me out with all of the stuff like papers from the sperm bank (to say I am fit be get pregnant), a gyn exam, etc....do you think they would want to do that there? My regular doc is freaked out by the whole idea I think....and I am thinking that I am searching for a new doc after learning that! LOL Thanks so much for sahring your experiences! I am looking to begin ttc in March or April.

Take a look at my chart and tell me what you think:-) Also, do you keep your charts on FF or paper?

I don't know Dr. Williams but

A few years before I met Dr. Schmidt I went to another Dr. named Moon Kim--he was supposed to be the best in the state of Ohio.

He was also very judgemental--he didn't treat "fat" women or women who smoked.

My visit to him was overwhelmingly heart breaking and I left this ass**oles office crying hysterically.

Dr. Schmidt was interning under Moon Kim at the time. He broke off his relationship with him and started a practice under another hospital. I think this was looked poorly on at the time by his piers.

My point being--I think he made a point to not be judgemental about me--being that I am fat. I don't know how he views lesbian relationships but I think it may be possible that he may not be judgemental in that department just the same as he was not judgemntal in the fat department.

I guess there is no way to know without asking. Maybe an annonymous phone call would provide you an answer.

Oh yeah....My mil is a lesbian and she said she literally has had friends get prego with turkey baster!!!lol...Do you know any men that would be will to give you a sample??
I also have a good friend that did self inseminations with a needles syringe that you can buy at the drug store!!..She said that worked the best because it didn't suck the little swimmers back up in the bulb..But if you do end up trying this....make sure you DO NOT put it inside your cervix when you release it....It can hurt you!! Cause severe abdominal cramping....
My friend just guided it with her finger and let it out slowely at the opening of the cervix..(she also got prego twice this method!)
    Good luck!
