    Default Body Odor

Does anyone experience a peculiar odor coming from the vagina while having sex (strong, like bad armitt smell)? At first I thought it might be BV or a yeast infection but it's not, and sometimes my partner feels it coming from my nipples. I don't mean to disgust anyone but none of my friends have that problem and I want to know if it's hormone-related and if anyone is having the same problem because of PCOS..!

This odor is ruining my sex life..!

Could it be from perspiration? Have you tried using an antibacterial soap like Dial?

    Default Its probably normal sweat

Hello. I too have this problem and it is embarrassing I know. I went to my MD and this is what she told me. We women have sweat glands in our pubic area and surrounding almost exactly like in our armpits. We sweat down there and for many reasons the smell can be more prevelent. Like during hormonal changes, stress, even a change in our diets can effect our smell. All you can really do is use a anti-bacterial soap (like Dial) to keep extra clean. Heres what worked for me. When I get the pit smell I wash with Dial, shave the hair away (like in our pits, hair traps and holds the bacterias that cause the smell), and use Secret roll on deoderant in the spots where my legs meet my groin. I know I know.. its weird, but it works. Also, if you do use underarm deoderant there, dont use it for more than a day or so... causes rash. Oh and shower in the morning and evening... especially before BDing...

    Hope this helps some

I've tried that. I actually wax the entire pubic area and wash up before intercourse. The deodorant protects me from external odor, around the pubic area. But this comes from the inside.. more like sceretion. My partener doesnt like performing oral because of this.. (sorry if this last detail bothers u)...

    I'm so sad and embarrased!

Default Have you seen an MD?

You should see a doctor then hon. Maybe it's not BV but it's something. A normal vagina has a slight odor from the discharge, but if its very strong and foul then a doc needs to know. Have you tried douching? God forbid, as a nurse I hate telling suggesting them, but they may help. Talk to a doctor first.

I use summer eve wash. I find it to be less drying and irritating than soap, which is what I used to use until I got into jr. high. I like that I can use the summer eve wash to clean the rest of me and use it to shave when I run out of shave gel. Also, they say not to use feminie deodorant sprays and powders, but I find it helps when I'm sweating.

FDS can help but for some women causes irritation. Discharge that smells so bad that its offensive needs to be seen by a doc asap. Might be nothing, but better to be safe...

Eat two containers of yogurt a day for a week and see what happens. This should help re-adjust the healthy bacteria down there. Plus, yogurt is yummy, so what does it hurt.

The yogart thing is true but if you are prone to yeast infections you should steer clear of it due to the dairy and surgar in it.

Whatever you do, do yourself a favor and DON'T use an anti-bacterial soap there(if you do have a yeast problem, kiling off beneficial bacteria will only aggravate the problem), it's better to not use any soap down there at all unless you can find a hypoallergenic organic soap. Go with the yogurt instead, and maybe try some acidophilus supplement. If that doesnt work - see a doctor. Oh also, body odor can change with what you eat. For example if you eat a whole lot of onions and garlic, you may not smell exactly pleasant.

This is going to sound rather weird... but has anyone noticed that their 'personal smell' changed after starting on meds?

I would say mine went from being sort of 'armpit' sometimes to what I think is a more normal female smell. I suspect that this change is related to now having hormone levels that are a bit more normal.

Try to drink more water. I've heard that at times, body odor can be stronger due to dehydration.
