Question Saying Hi, I'm new with a few questions

    Hi All:

I was diagnosed in the beginning of this month and have luckily found this site and a few good books. My doctor would like to start me on Metformin on Friday and I just wanted to know from those of you who are on it what kind of side effects (good or bad) you had.

    Thanks!

Yeah, stay away from sugary and greasy foods and salads and you should be fine. Some ladies experience anerexia type symptoms, food aversion, etc.

    Welcome to the community.
Side effects of met can be uncomfortable, such as diarrhea, but they soon were off.
    Glad you found us here!

    Welcome cyster!

I had nausea/vomiting/diarrhea when I first started met, the diarrhea being the worst symptom. I found that taking the met right in the middle of my meal helped the most. Also watching my carbs, and starting out at 500 mg met and working up gradually helped too.

Hope this helps, and I hope the met works well for you!

    WELCOME CYSTER!!!!!

I agree with the other cysters. I had a lot of the same side effects. The diarreha and nausea. Taking small doses in the beginning and working my way up helped a lot with the serverity of the side effects. Once I began "The Insulin Resistace Diet" I found that the symptoms went away. The met helped to regulate my periods. AF comes every month like clock work. The pain has let up a bit too.

I hope this helps you a little. I'm glad you've found us, these women here are absolutely womderful! If you ever need to talk, you can PM me anytime.
