Thread: Possible M/C... Question

    Default Possible M/C... Question

I just went for my second u/s and it looks like I am having another m/c. Baby A is definately has not developed since last the last u/s. Baby B is much less developed than it should be and she said it that it only measured 3 days growth in the last week. There is no heartbeat in either even though I am 7 weeks 4 days. Anyway, they are scheduling another u/s (just to be sure) and D and C next Monday. My first m/c was in the 5th week and I did not need a D and C. They want to do a D&C so they can do genetic testing to see what went wrong. What should I expect with one? Do you still have af after? Does it hurt going through? Do I need to take another day off work?

I'm sorry for all the questions. I know a lot of other people are hurting and dealing with m/c right now too. I do not mean to be insensitive, but I'm a little nervous and thought someone else might have gone through it and might have some advice.

I wish I could help with your questions, my m/c was early. But I do want to send you a huge HUG. Positive thoughts and prayers coming your way.

    Marna -

I am so sorry for your loss I lost a twin pregnancy too - first one was vanishing twin about 9 weeks and then full term stillborn. It was my second pregnancy - third baby that I had the D&C.
My miscarriage and D&C was about 9 weeks - how far along are you? I didn't have any pain during the procedure I could feel pressure but not pain. But for your emotional well being - I would take that day and the following day out of work. I had the D&C because it was my 3rd loss and they wanted to do the genetic testing as well.

Please feel free to email me or pm me. angelzmom96@yahoo.com It sounds like we have had some similarities, and I will answer questions and support you in any way that I can. I had some amazing people that helped me through that difficult time, and I will help you in any way that I can. Because it has been several years since I went through this - my grief is not the raw pain that you feel in the beginning. Please remember to be patient with yourself and take time for you during this holiday season. Do not let "what you are expected to be doing" keep you from doing what is best for you.

I will be praying for you on Monday, and again I am so sorry for the loss of your angels.

I am so sorry you have to go through this. I had a D&C a little over 9 weeks along. I was totally knocked out for the procedure and felt no pain during or after the procedure. I didn't really bleed after the D&C, but I was spotting for two weeks before they found out the baby's heart had stopped beating and the baby hadn't grown in a week...so maybe I didn't have anything else to bleed out? I don't really know.

I would try to schedule the D&C for a Friday and then have the weekend to relax. I don't know what kind of job you have, but I guess you could return the next day. After my D&C I slept for probably four hours and then felt kind of drowsy the rest of the evening. I had a prescription for pain pills, but never filled it...but I guess some people experience pain, I don't know. All of my pain was emotional pain!

I'm praying for you and wishing you well! Let me know if you need anything!

Hi Marna, First off, I am very sorry that you have to go through this. I had a d&c almost 2 months ago for a missed m/c at 11 weeks. I was completely knocked out for the procedure which I would recommend rather than being awake. It was a one-day surgery, I was in the hospital about 6 hours from start to finish. I didn't have much pain, just some cramping the next day. I took about a week off, for emotional healing I needed it! I work with 8 pregnant ladies... I got AF about 3 weeks later. The fetus was sent for genetic testing which came back normal for me. Hope this helps you, feel free to PM me with any questions. ((hugs))

Ladies I can't say thank you enough for the responses!!

I have decided to take Monday and Tuesday off work. I teach middle school and I just don't think I can handle facing them right afterwards. I'm already a little anxious about how I'm going to handle the rest of this week. I don't know if I will be fully sedated or just given local anasthesia (?sp). The nurse was supposed to be setting it up and calling me back with theinformation. If I don't hear from her tomorrow I'll call her Wednesday. Right now I'm just numb. I actually think it's a little easier this time. Last time just blindsided me and it was so hard to have any faith in God. I'm hoping that this will continue and not just be the calm before the storm.

    Hey there honey

    I'm sorry you're having to go through this. I had a D&C after both miscarriages. The first one they put me under anasthetic so I didn't feel anything. Afterward I felt a little cramping like a period and there was blood. Much like a period the bleeding stopped after a few days. The second time I was awake and they gave me a heavy duty muscle relaxer and numbed my cervix. I didn't feel anything. Later on in the night I had stomach pains like a very bad period and very large clots. That lasted about two days but I was able to go to work after both of them. Good luck to you {hugs}

((Marna)). I'm so sorry for your loss. My loss was later, so I don't have answers to your questions. I hope the procedure goes smoothly for you, if it's necessary (I'm still praying for a miracle to happen).

Will your doc do repeat pregnancy loss (RPL) testing now?

I just wanted to update everyone. I did have the ultrasound Monday morning and there was still no additional development so they did the D&C. I was very relieved that they completely sedated me. The doctor assured me that they were going to do testing to see if they can determine what caused the mc. Lord willing we will find something that will help us be more proactive next time. The worst part of the procedure was waking up from anasthesia and realizing I was officially no longer pregnant. It made it feel so real. This was a really rough week, but it's starting to get better. Thank you all for the support!
