Thank you SO MUCH for posting these success stories! This is just what I needed to hear. After being recently diagnosed with PCOS myself, this was a great way to have some hope!

Well thought that I would add my story here too !!!

Been taking Met since 6th March started off at 500mg first then have increased my dose to 1000mg, I have to admit that I have felt sick and running back and fro to the loo, but now I feel a lot better, I am just glad that I dont feel so hungry as I use to plus I swear my hair feels thicker ?? (not sure if that has to do with Met or not ?). Have to go back to the doctor soon though because they only prescribed me a months course so here hoping that I have a proper AF !!!

Sarah, your hair getting thicker is most likely due to the Met. It's lowering your male hormones which is why most women with PCOS get thinning hair. Elevated male hormones are also the reason for acne and Met definitely helped me with that! About 2 months after I started the Met I noticed my skin getting better and better and now it's absolutely glowing and gorgeous and I'm 13 weeks pregnant! Never had skin like this before that I can remember. Whoo Heeew!

    Good luck.

    Red face Hopeful!

Hoping that I will be able to post a Success Story on this thread in the near future...

I am on my second week of Metformin, 1000 MG. Doing pretty good so far! I've been low-carb dieting since March 6th/7th, so along with the Met, I am down 14 lbs.

Me and DH are currently TTC #1... Maybe Met will be the answer!

    Good luck to everyone!

Keep the awesome success stories coming... they are truly inspiring!

Cole ~ DH stands for Dear Hubby. My husband makes fun of it (and all the other acronyms) so don't feel like you have to you it. DF is Dear Fiancee and DS and DD are Dear Son and Dear Daughter. DP is Dear Partner.

Hi, I'm on 850 mg of Metformin. My doctor has said nothing about increasing the dosage. I've only been taking it for about a month and am waiting for my period. After reading all the other posts I'm wondering if I should ask about increasing my dosage. I haven't lost any weight. The only side effect I feel is headaches and fatigue but manageable. Does anyone have any advice?

    Thanks!
    Brooke

I have lost much either like .3 but I have only been on Met for a week and a half. I have had headaches and fatigue..yuck but so far not bad. I am on 1500mg. You may want to ask but I know alot of women who are just on 500mg..chances are the doc will increase your dosage in time. I aslo keep a low-carb diet which helps too. Maybe ask your doctor? Do you have alot of weight to loose? I have about 10 I want to lose.

Hi Nic, I have about 25 pounds I would love to lose but I would be ecstactic with just 10. When do you take your pills? I usually take mine right before bed. So far no major stomach problems like other people have written about but then again maybe my dosage isn't high enough for that. I will ask my doctor and see if increasing is an option.
    Talk to you soon,
    Brooke

Brooke ~ Your doctor may be waiting to see what this first dosage does before increasing it. Slow increases in dosage seem to be the easiest with the side effects. Some doctors give you the entire plan up front, and some seem to tell you one step at a time. If he doesn't bring it up at your next appointment, you might want to ask. The standard dose around here seems to be 1500 - 2000mg.

BTW, B12 seems to help with the fatigue. I heard about that first around here. It really did help. Met apparently messes with our B12 somehow. I don't remember the details.
