I am also from Rochester NY and am in the processes of finding a new physician who understands PCOS treatments. When I get more info, I will post it here for you.

Smile PCOS Friendly OBGYN in Rochester

I have found out that there are PCOS friendly doctors in my OBGYN practice.
They have a website: http://www.rgoa.yourmd.com/ I use Dr. Diane Cunningham. They are referring me to a dietician and have agreed to help me work with my PCOS related symptoms (high BP, high Cholesterol/Diabetes).

I have also heard about that Women Gynecology & Childbirth Associates, P.C. is also PCOS friendly. They also have a website:
    http://www.wgcaobgyn.com/our_doctors.html

    Good Luck.

My gyno has referred me to Dr Hoeger as well. I actually e-mailed her yesterday, but was wondering if you could let me know how she is before I schedule an appointment with her.
    Thanks in advance.

I used to go to Strong Endocrinology (I think endos are better at treating PCOS than OB/GYNs and generally have more knowledge of the disease) until my doctor retired. Their nutritionist Myrna Paige is excellent too.

Default Dr. Kathleen Hoeger used to be my RE

Sorry that I have JUST NOW noticed this thread. How ignorant of me. Dr. Hoeger was my fertility doctor up until March of 2006 because I became pregnant. If I remember correctly it took at least a month to get in to see her but once I did everything went well. I was already on Metformin prescribed by my OB as well as clomid. We tried IUI with Clomid which did work but I m/c or I guess what you would probably call a chemical pregnancy because it only lasted a few days. Two months later, after being on follisitim injections, I got pg. We delivered my beautiful dd 2 months ago :-)

Also, my OB's office is right next door to Dr. Hoeger's. Her name is Dr. Sarah Sukalich who also specializes in PCOS as well. She was the one that referred me specifically to Dr. Hoeger. Dr. Sukalich is an awesome doctor but please note that she works part time so is quite busy.

I went to Dr. Pulli at RGOA where Dr. Cunningham works. I liked Dr. Pulli until it came to diagnosing PCOS and that's when it all fell apart. She didn't have time to deal with me and acted like I was taking up too much of her time because I didn't have all the clasic symptoms of PCOS so she referred me to the dermatoligist next door in order to deal with my "hair" issues. I went back to her, cried in her office at how upset I was with her and her nurse and all she did was apologize but didn't offer an other advice on what to do so I left the practice. However, I have lots of friends who go to Dr. Cunningham so don't stop going to their practice because of me. I also have a best friend who goes to Dr. Pulli still so I guess it just depends on yourself.

As far as Dr. Hoeger's office--you will probably at some time or another see her nurse Kristen. She is awesome and has a wonderful bedside manor.

On another note--Dr. Hoeger's husband is a pediatrician at Elmwood Pediatrics. I don't use him for my daughter as I had someone else recommended to me but he did see my dd in the hospital.

G/L to you and I will try to check in on this thread more often. If you have any questions feel free to pm me.
