    Default Hello

Hi my name is Sarah and I am new here but not new to PCOS. I have unknowingly had PCOS since I was 18..about 8 yrs...but was only diagnosed 4 mths ago. I found out only because my wife and I would like to start TTC. I am so glad I found this board. I am on another board with women who have PCOS but no one else has my same circumstances. I look forward to getting to know you all.

Welcome Justduckie! I am fairly new to these boards myself but can tell you that our "cysters" here are awesome! My partner and I have been together for 6 years and are just beginning TTC also. What stage are you at in the progress?

I look forward to chatting with you on the boards, good luck TTC!!!

We are going to visit the dr on Friday to see where to go from here. I have been just taking Met since Nov. So she wanted that to start working before we went any further. It has helped me loose some weight, and when my wife doesn't take her BC I start AF but otherwise... not much more. So I think maybe on Fri my dr will give me another med for AF to show and possibly refer us to another dr for fertility purposes. Our town doesn't have fertility drs. So we are JUST starting. How about you, where are you at?

I had my first visit the the dr at the end of December and he put me on Met then so it sounds like we are almost in the same boat! Unfortunately I haven't lost any weight yet, I would like too but I can't wait any longer to start ttc. I am on 1000mg of Met right now and will be increasing to 1500mg this week.

I wasn't expecting to have AF so quickly but had one at the end of January, dr did HSG where they run dye through tubes and I was all clear! So now I am just waiting for AF to come again and begin inseminations. I should start somewhere around the 21st and will be taking clomid on days 3-7.

I am fortunate that my dr is awesome and their office will be doing all of my inseminations. In my opinion, its too expensive to waste any trying at home.

Its so exciting, I can't stop looking at baby stuff everywhere we go. And it seems like everywhere I look there are pregnant women!

Where do you live? Hopefully your dr will be able to refer you to someone that can help you out. Have you just been seing GYN?

That is so great! It sounds like you are one step ahead of me...but if you don't mind, I could learn a thing or two thru you! I am also on 1000mgs of met but I am going to the dr on fri ( I think I may have already said that) so I will see then. I am not so sure I like my dr. She diagnosed me, put me on met, and that was it. Didn't say, call back in a month, nothing. That was it. So I called her and made the appt. I think I may switch Dr (yes gyn, I haven't seen a RE, don't think I have one in my town) I live in WA state, eastern wa. Do you suggest I see a RE? What is the difference? REally new to this stuff.
I know what you mean bout the baby stuff and preg women... I know 5 women around me that are pg....envy set in a long time ago. I am happy for them also, of course.
So I have a q about clomid. When you say you are taking it day 3-7, what does that mean? I wasn't kidding when I said I was new!!!
    Where do you live?

I will be glad to help you all that I can, I am still relying on the help of the other cysters here too.

If you can find an RE I would definately recommend it. I had the same problems with GYN's just giving me meds and pushing me out the door. My current GYN, however, referred me to my RE so you may want to ask and see if they know of any. My RE ran TONS of tests and moved forward from there, he also went into great detail with me about sperm banks and inseminations in the office vs. at home. I was scared that he was going to tell me I needed to lose 100 lbs. before we started TTC but that never once came out of his mouth. He actaully said to me that he sees patients like me all the time.

As far as the clomid goes, the day you start your period is Cycle Day 1 and you begin counting from there. For me, I begin the clomid on cycle day 3 and continue through CD 7. Then on CD 12 I go into the office for an Ultrasound to ensure I am O'ing. And at this point that is all I know because I haven't actually started the process. I have my clomid and am just waiting for AF to get here! The dr ran the HSG I mentioned previously just to make sure we didn't try inseminating only to find my tubes were blocked, this is an optional procedure but I have read that it does increase the odds of getting PG. I guess maybe because it kind of "blows the dust off" if you know what I mean.

After my first visit to the RE things moved so quickly. That appt was Dec 27 and here I am getting ready (hopefully) to begin our first insemination. I am so excited I can't stand it!

We live in Savannah Georgia, have you ever been here? I was born and raised in Atlanta and moved here about a year ago. Are you anywhere near Seattle?

Okay, I've rambled enough, sorry for the long post...I just get excited knowing there are other people going through the same things that I am and can actually understand.

Wow, thank you. THat explaination helped me out alot. I am so glad we are going through this together. I guess this friday, I will talk to her about an RE. The closest ones are 2-4 hrs away, I think. I looked in the yellow pages, and there were NONE! I guess I live in a small community than I thought. I actually live about 200 mi away from Seattle. Its a 4 hr drive. I live on the other side of the state. OH, I have to get my wife up for work...she's gonna be late. I will post later.

Sorry, I my wife had only 20 minutes to get ready for work...thats not good. No, I have never been to Savannah. THe farthest east I have ever been was Arizona when I was 5. Well actually I have been to London and France 10yrs ago.

Funny story, I was talking with my mother last night, and she was like, we will just get some random guy to donate to you and then we will inseminate you and have you stand on your head for an hour or two. THen, you'll be pg. I was laughing so hard...she cracks me up. She wants to be a grandma so bad, she evidentally will do anything. Just thought I would share that . It cracked me up. I hope you are having a good day, I noticed your mood was confused?!

You should definately make a trip down south, it really is beautiful here!

My DP travels to Seattle often for work is the reason I asked if you were near there, I hope to be able to make the trip with her sometime this spring.

That is funny about your mom, I asked my mom how she felt about us TTC and she said "Well its about time" so I thought that was a pretty funny reaction too. My very hypocritical aunt was the only one that was like "well I'm concerned about the adversity teh child will have to grow up with". And my response to her was "when a child is brought up around as much love as we have for one another it can only bring on good things and teach them how to deal with adversity in their life." She didn't have much to say to that.

I am doing pretty good, I'm feeling confused today because I haven't seen any signs of O and I am frustrated. Today is CD 22 for me and nothing so I am worried that AF isn't coming either. This is such a fun and exciting process but very annoying as well, just waiting for everything to happen is killing me! Thanks for asking! How about you, how are things going? Are you looking forward to your appt on friday?

I promise all of my posts won't be this long...

Hi, all. I love this message board - everyone is so supportive and great. It's great to read about your steps in TTC because my partner (of 5 yrs) and I are going to start trying this summer. We're getting married in Canada late spring and having a big reception for our friends and families over Thanksgiving. We really want to get pg between the two, if possible - we want to start as soon as possible, but I don't want to be huge for the reception if it happens quickly. It's so hard to just sit and wait now that we've decided it's time, but it gives me time to get my body in order anyway - start eating healthier, etc. Good luck Justduckie and Sarelle - hopefully you'll be pg by the time I start trying.

Hey! Well, it has been a weekend for me, to say the least. I didn't have my apptmt on friday cause my dr had the flu....i was so sad! BUt, i did make another apptmt for the 1st of march (that was the soonest I could get in, which really sucks.) BUt my sister told me that I need to think positive, so I am thinking positive. The other thing that sucks about it is that my wife can't go with me that day and I have to wait another 2 weeks! So, now I am just waiting. Then on Saturday I woke up with a terrible cold. I can only breath thru one nostrol...(TMI right!) so i hope to be feeling better soon. Too much stress from work last week and not enough sleep! So, that is that for me. I do hope to make it to the south sometime. Seattle is beautiful too, if its not raining. We will probably be going to an RE in Seattle. WHo knows, maybe we will be there at the same time!!! I hope your day is going well, and you had a good weekend. Sorry for the MIA, my wife has the last 4 days off, and we never get to spend alot of time together. Now that I have blabbed forever, I will stop now.
