    Unhappy Newbie from NM

    Hello

I was recently diagnosed with PCOS in December, I am currently taking Metformin but nothing yet. I haven't had a period since September and that was because I was on the birth control pill for one month. I took chlomid for 5 days in January and I was so emotional I did not like the way it made me feel. So I told my doctor that I did not want to take the chlomid again and now I have an appointment with him on March 14.

I am so sick of taking so many pills I don't feel that it is safe. So I went to Wild Oats this weekend and bought some herbal drops called Vitex (Chaste tree), I hope this works. Has anyone tried this before? How many drops should I take per day? The paper I got at Wild Oats says one drop in the morning. I researched that it was okay to take with metformin.

I am so glad to join a group that understands PCOS. I hope that I find out as much information and suggestions about treatments.

Sorry if it seems like I am stressed.
    Thank you
    Moniquer

    Welcome fellow New Mexican!

Do you see a fertility doctor/RE or just your OBGYN?

As for vitex, it is a slow acting herb. Meaning it could take awhile to work and balance out your hormones. I used it before conceiving my DD (along w/ other herbs and supplements) and it seemed to help after 2 or 3 months (pregnant after 11 months on it). However when I tried it after weaning DD, it seemed to mess my system up even more.

Anways, Welcome and feel free to pm me!

Welcome, Moniquer! Before I was diagnosed and, therefore, before I knew why my cycles were lasting up to 58 days, I tried a product called FertilAid. It's main ingredient is vitex, but it also contains other herbs that are supposed to aid in normalizing your cycles and in helping you conceive. The 3-4 months that I was on it (I also tried the tea, Fertilitea, at the same time), it got my cycles down to 31-35 days. Good luck!

Thank you all for the advice. My doctor is a Obstetrics/Gynecologist he is the only doctor that I have found so far that knows about PCOS.

La Blanca- Did your doctor prescribe FertilAid to you? if not where did you find it?

You can order FertilAid here: www.fertilaid.com. There's a link to FertiliTea on there also. I wasn't seeing a doctor for fertility issues when I took it; we'd only been TTC for about 6 months at that time. Good luck!

Hi, I am new here as well. I live in Alamogordo, NM. I have not been diagnosed with PCOS. I can't get my doctors to listen to me to even test...I am glad that there are other people who understand the frustrations.

Welcome! I am sure we all feel your pain! We have all been there at one time or another! This is probably the only place where women understand.

I know why is it so hard for the Dr.'s to understand They sometimes looked at me like I was stupid. I have been having so much trouble all my life with my periods and I have talked to so many Dr.'s and I am finally dx.
