Thread: What is the best way to take Met?

Default What is the best way to take Met?

I am on 1500mg of Met. My doctor told me to take all of it in between dinner and bedtime. But, ready some of the information, it seems that maybe I should be taking it throughout the day. Is there a way that is most effective. I haven't really seen too many side effects, but I want to get the most effectiveness.

If you are on the extended release you can take it all at one time. I take my 2,000 mg with dinner to avoid stomache upset.

Those of us who have to spread it out during the day are usually taking the regular Met, not the extended release.

Oh, okay. So, I must be on the extended release. I remember him saying something about that now. Thanks!

I take the XR, 2000 mgs - but my doctor has me take 1000mg in the morning and 1000 in the evening. I don't know why, unless it was the side effects. I had a terrible time with teh gastro effects as I slowly went up in dosage, but after being on 2000 for about 3-4 weeks, they have subsided almost completely. Maybe it doesn't matter when you take it, as long as it works for you.

I read that you should actually take it either before or with each meal.
