Thread: Cinnamon - part 2

I went out and bought a bottle of capsules tonight. Is there one brand that is better than another. I noticed that one bottle had other stuff added to the cinnamon and I opted for the brand that only listed the bark on the back. Does anyone have a brand that they prefer?

I buy the only brand at CVS, Nature's Bounty though ex-DBF's mother tried to convince me to order from Puritan's Pride. It works for me.

I've read through this thread all the way, as well as the one before it...
I'm very anxious to start taking cinnamon. I'll be heading to Walmart tomorrow over my lunch break to start it.
I've started back on my low carb diet, as well as exercising 4 days a week. To you ladies who have lost weight on cinnamon, where you doing anything in conjunction with the cinnamon to cause the weight loss?
Thanks to you all for a hugely informative thead
    Tomorrow is another day....

Well, I decided to try Met and see if it works for me because I was not getting the great results that most of you guys got on Cinnamon. But does anyone know if I can take the rest of my Cinnamon pills with the Met? I just don't want to waste them!

    FeliciaB,

I was careful not to do anything different just to see if the cinnamon had any effect on my weight for the first three months. I lost about 4 pounds in three months without any changes to my lifestyle, just the cinnamon.

Quick question for all you cin girls. I've been taking 2000mg a day for a week. Some days I get a horrible headache. One day last week I got a bad migraine. This doesn't happen every day. Any ideas on preventing this? Could my blood sugar be getting too low?

    hwsamande,

When I first started taking cinnamon, I was taking 1000 mg in the morning before breakfast. I usually have bowl of oats with milk and a piece of fruit. I think that the cinnamon was bringing my blood sugars too low because I was feeling quite dizzy. I reduced the cinnamon to 500 mg with every meal and this solved the problem.

Maybe it is related. I believe it takes a while to adjust the dose that it's right for you. From my experience, with the right amount of cinnamon I don't get tired after meals and I don't feel dizzy.

    Hope this helps,

    M.

Hi everyone, I'm thinking about hopping on the cinnamon train, too! But I'd like to do it without spending too much money and cheap supplements don't really exist where I live. I don't trust myself to incorporate cinnamon into my diet regularly enough so instead I've made some capsules for myself using ground cinnamon. Each one holds about a quarter of a teaspoon. I figure I'll take 2-4 throughout the day, then hopefully at least 1 more teaspoon during the day sprinkled on food.

I see most of you are taking supplements, and mention dosage, but was wondering if anyone knew how many milligrams can be found in a teaspoon of cinnamon?

Thanks! And good luck to everyone.

I used to take cinnamon, before my official diagnosis, but after I was prescribed 1500 metformin, I stopped taking it. Would it be beneficial to take both? Any harm?

Does anyone know anything about taking cloves? I ask because of this. Thanks!

I posted this elsewhere, but wanted to post my experience here!!! LOVE Cinnamon...

I will tell you this... I took Metformin for a while and just couldn't deal with it anymore... the only period I have had in the last year was one induced by Prometrium in November. I started taking Cinnamon a week ago, figured what could it hurt... I started my period 5 minutes ago!! My breasts started hurting 3 days after starting cinnamon, and I can't believe I am having a period without those nasty hormones!! I am dancing with joy! No more Met or hormones for this girl... Cinnamon all the way! I have only been taking 1000mg/day. I was just getting ready to up it to 1500mg tonight... I could not be happier right now!!
