Wow, I feel like mine is horrible now!! My TSH was >150!!! She put me on 225mcg of Synthroid. I'm hoping I can get it down because she said she doesn't want me to TTC until it's at 2.2 or lower!! Man I guess I have a long way to go then. Any advice on anything that could help speed up this process any?

Sorry, there is nothing to speed up the lowering of your TSH. Your TSH should start lowering immediately and may even be back to normal in 6 weeks. It can take around 6 weeks for your body to fully adjust to it and for labs to show what is going on with a new dose. Keep in mind that this may not be the exact dose you need, it is just a starting point for your doctor to see if you need a higher or lower...or it could be right on. In case your doc hasn't told you, you should be having labs drawn in about 6 weeks to check, then you'll need to have your labs drawn about twice a year after that (some will go longer, some shorter). And during pregnancy make sure your ob/gyn is aware you are in thyroid meds, you want to be sure those are always at the right dose; otherwise it could harm the baby.

    Good luck!

I am currently on Synthroid and taking 125 MCG every day. It will probably go up in the next few weeks because I am in my second trimester of pregnancy. They usually up it around this time and then lower it the day I give birth.

I have had hypothyroid since 1999 and I think I have taken everything at one point or another. I have been on this dose since 2006 and that is the longest I have been on one drug and one dose.

Ever since I found out that all my female relatives on my dad's side are hypo, I've been getting tested. And then, about 7 or so years ago, my tests finally came back just a little off (plus, I had gained 25 pounds seemingly overnight!). So they put me on 25 mcg of levo, and the 25 pounds vanished and my tests came back fine. (Of course, it would have been nice if some more weight disappeared too.....but I suppose one can't have everything, lol.)

And that's the dosage I've been on ever since. I just got my blood tested last month, and everything looks fine.

I've been taking Syntrhoid since July. They started me on .25. After one month my TSH went from 10.4 to 4.4. I had no improvement in my fatigue and exhaustion, so she upped it to .50.

That kicked me into hyper and I spent four sweaty days with a combined 4 or 5 hours of sleep. I was beside myself and stopped taking the medication completely for three days so that I could sleep again.

She then dropped me back down to .25 and we gave it a full two months. My results showed a TSH of 6 point something. I still feel the same exhaustion and fatigue, though.

So, she put me up to 37.5 (a pill and 1/2) of Syntrhoid. I've been taking that now for a week.

Thus far she has only tested my TSH, though others have mentioned T3 and T4. Should she be testing those as well? Could those levels account for why I'm so tired all the time?

I was recently increased to 150mcg of Synthroid. I had labs drawn that showed my TSH was messed up again. I was on 137mcg for about 6 months (longest I have stayed at one dose). I am hoping this throws me into the hyper side (or at least normal) so I am not so exhausted!

I'm brand new to this diagnosis. I was told that I have normal TSH levels but that my T4 was low. Has anyone else had lab results like this? It seems that most people are talking about TSH levels being out of whack. I didn't think to ask for a copy of the labs. Anyway, my dr. has started me out on 25mcg of synthroid so I'm hoping it doesn't take too long for my body to respond to this. This message board has been very informative so far!

I'm on 150mcg. I guess I'm so used to it I don't even think about it anymore. One pill every morning since I was 16 y/o. And it just keeps going up. I read someone here got it to go down forget who I'd love to do that I thought you couldn't really control it?

I have been on Levo for about 3 weeks now at 0.1mg a day. Some things have improved-my sleep patterns are a bit better, I fall asleep better at night and am not quite so tired in the morning BUT I still feel exhausted in the mid afternoon.

I guess my question to you all is this: is there some magic dose where I will instantly feel new and improved?? Have any of you completely returned to normal energy levels or that a dream?

I take 4 grains Armour and just started taking 50 mcgs of snythyriod after I had my labs done and my Free t4 had fallen form 1.1 to 1.0. My doctor and I really want my free t4 to be about 1.4-1.5. So for what ever reason my body seems to require large amounts of tyroid hormone. The 4 grains I take is equal to 296mcg of synthroid. I was reading somewhere that some women can become thryoid resistance and require higher doses. By the way I have no hyper symptoms at all my temp still averages about 98 degrees. I have noticed I seem to be ovulating sooner since upping my meds.

I am now on 75mcg of Synthroid daily. However this will probably change in 2 weeks when I go for my next TSH lab work.

I have been on my new dose of 150mcg of Synthroid for almost 3 weeks and am still exhausted! What gives? I come home and before I can finish dinner I am tired. I doze off around 8pm and sleep off and on until 10pm when I shower and go to bed and sleep for about 4 more hours (I never get a full night's rest, never have).
Do any of you have the same trouble????

I do know when you first go on thyroid meds it put a tremedous stress on your adrenal glands. Do you know what your numbers were before you went on meds? I would give it another week or so and see if your doc won't recheck your thyroid numbers. You just may need to go up again.
