ARMOUR has made me feel....like a new person!!!!!

I take 50mcg Levothroid and 60mg Armour in the morning and then another 60mg Armour in the afternoon around 4-5pm. My TSH, T3, T4 are all withing the normal range...lookin' good!!!

My EX-Internist just wouldn't listen to me when I begged him to put me on something other than Synthroid...I told him I wasn't making the T4 to T3 conversion and I was so sluggish all the time, my joints were still aching. He told me to get used to it, everyone feels tired from time to time!!! JERK!!! A new Internist, Armour & Levothroid, and a month or 2 later and I feel the best I have in 2.5 years!!!! THANKS to Amour!!!

I went to the doc last week and she increased my dose to 275mcg of synthroid. She thinks that I have an Autoimmune disorder and it's destroyed my thyroid gland....she said it's not swollen and she can barely feel it...therefor I may have to stay on a large dose to keep my levels from going wacko again! Oh well, at least this med has had no side effects on me...could be a lot worse! Have a great Thanksgiving ladies!!

I don't remember what my levels were. I had the results somewhere, now I can't seem to find them. The cold intolerance, fatigue have increased, and not improved.
I saw my endo Monday and he drew another level b/c now I am also having constipation (new for me). I have been on the new dose a month now. I guess we will wait and see what the tests show.

    Default Hypothyroidism First

Hi. I was diagnosed with autoimmune hypothyroidism in 1993 after gaining 20lbs in 2 weeks and then 1-2lbs every week for 6 months. I had all the symptoms of immense fatigue, thickening skin on soles of feet, loss of hair on eyebrows, dry skin, weight gain, etc. It took them 10 years to get the dosage right because when I was diagnosed they only measured the amount of Thyroid hormone that my thyroid was putting out, my body was absorbing less than half of that. Additionally they discovered that I was having difficulty converting T-4 to t-3 so the supplemented with cytomel. About 1996-7 I began getting sypmtoms of PCOS. (after gaining 60 lbs from hypothyroidism.)

Anyway currently I'm on 275 of levoxyl (t-4) and 5 of cytomel (t-3).

I just saw my Dr. or should I say NP and she said my levels were within a normal range but I could stand to be raised from 100 to 137mcg. Should this start doing funy things to me like weight loss, insomnia, anything?

I'm on 1200mcg per week, spread out over 4 days of 200mcg and 3 days of 100mcg. I've been hypo for about 8 years, since my son was born (I was subclinical at the start, now I'm full-blown hypo).

I have recently had lap band surgery and lost quite a lot of weight, so my endo is monitoring me so we can see if the dose can be decreased.

I started 50mcg/day a couple of weeks ago and can't wait to be tested to see if it's working since we are starting our clomid tomorrow. RE said that the combo of Synthroid (my TSH was 8) and Clomid might be what does the trick this time...

I am on 175 mcg's of synthroid once a day everyday. I was started on 50 mcg's when I was a young teenager and have been brought up to where I am now gradually. I don't know what my levels are, my doc never told me what mine were or what they even represent (slightly confused?). I have been struggling to find a family doctor(lost mine when I moved from Alberta to Ontario), I have been having to use clinic doctors, and they are the worst. I don't know how I am doing at all with my meds and my PCOS.

Before meds.. my TSH was 5.84.. I'm taking 50mcg of Synthyroid and at my 7 weeks test it was 1.68.. My doctor likes to see it between 1.0-2.0 especially since I'm TTC.

Good Luck.. That is an awfully high dose..

I started out on 75 mcg. After a month my doctor recheck and upped it to 100mcg, and after another month it was upped to 125 mcg. It's stayed at 125 for about 2 years now. I couldn't tell a difference when I was on the 75mcg, but with the higher dose, I can tell I'm not as tired.
