We are fostering to adopt. We currently have a 10 month old foster son who will most likely go back home at some point. We hope to take one (or two) in soon that will stay forever.

Hi, I'm new to the boards. I have been a foster to adopt mom for 4 years. I am mom to a 15 year old bio son, a 3 yr. old adopted daughter (she was placed in our home at 6 weeks as foster/adopt), and fostering my daughters 5month old bio brother (he was also placed with us at 6 weeks as a foster/adopt placement. Bmom is currently expecting again, due in 6 months, so we may have another joining us later in the year.

Is this the new thread for May?

We FINALLY got our fire inspection done the day before yesterday. Now all we have to do is get fingerprinted (on Tuesday) and then we can have our home study done. I am sooooo excited!!

Thanks! I am so ready. I was going through the check list again alittle while ago and I am so glad to see check marks next to all the paperwork we had completed! That alone was a chore lol.

We only have one class and that is it! We should have our license by the end of the montha and then we can submit interest on the little boy we are looking at. YAY! They said it is entirely possible we can be parents in a month!

Alicia - good grief!!! Within a month? Our agency stinks! We have been doing this for 14 months and don't even have our freakin home study scheduled. They have had our references for over a year and just now sent the paperwork to our list of references. HELLO...why didn't they already do that? Then I find out yesterday they are just now sending out our criminal background checks. If we were not so involved already I think we would go find another agency.

Can you tell I am aggrivated lol?

    Keep us posted!

Hello ladies! I'm not looking to adopt at this time (still recovering from my second miscarriage), but I am the Godmother of two BEAUTIFUL foster children who will hopefully be adopted by their loving family in the next couple months.

I just wanted to stop by and applaud you ladies for all your hard work. I had no idea how difficult and heartbreaking foster-adoption could be until I watched my best friend go through it. I also had no idea how rewarding it could be.

Just want to let y'all know that I'm rooting for you and the kids that you're helping!

    Keep up the great work!

just checking in to this thread we have three boys placed with us. Their adoptions should be finalized soon. The older two were placed with us in august and thier little brother joined us in february. I love being a mom.

Our home study took 7 months, It was almost 10 months from the time we called to scheldule classes until we were approved for adoption. But were were choosen for our boys less than a month after. It is a straight adoption meaning that adoption was the case plan when they were placed with us.

oomis i hope things speed up. While we were waiting I started looking a intrnational I was so mad at the inaction but I am glad we stuck it out

alicia- I hope all goes smoothly for you

jess- do you know how long it will take to finalize? I hope it goes quickly.

hello to karen, proud , and sherita as well as any lurkers looking in
