    Unhappy She's got it!

Since I was in high school I've been taking care of my neck beard. Waxing doesn't work, neither does Nair. Venus razors are now my weapon of choice. I'm so miserable and upset. I don't know many 26 yr. old woman who have to shave every morning before work. I hate PCOS! There's go to be an easier way than shaving with my boyfriend.

I just started having to shave my moustache, and I'm 25. Luckily it's not too coarse (yet), just dark. I'm very pale, so it's very noticeable if I let it go. I hope it doesn't get worse, but I have a feeling it might! Since I quit birth control, all kinds of black hairs are popping up everywhere. It's horrifying! My legs are so very hairy! I'm going to try a men's electric razor. Although I love my Venus, I get a lot of irritation from having to shave everyday. You are not alone!

Are you on metformin? I've heard that it helps with the hair. I hope you can find a solution!!

I'm about to start taking the depo sub q shot. My doctor said it would reduce the number of cysts on my ovaries and prevent more scaring.

    Depo provera??

Please look into experiences with PCOS and depo before starting - a LOT of women with PCOS have had the depo shot do horrible things to them. A combination birth control pill is probably much, much better for us!

(And I shave, too, and it sucks... I wax my mustache which is fortunately blonde and fine but LONG, so you can see it... but chin hairs... dark, course, lots of them. I have had several laser treatments but don't have the reduction I'd hoped for. Still, I feel normal for a few months after having one, and that's something!)

I had a bad reaction to the birth control pill. Can't for the life of me remember what happened now, I just know it wasn't great.

((hugs)) You're not alone. I'm 25 and shave more often than my hubby does.

Have you tried the magic shave cream? I know I saw a post around here somewhere. It's worth a shot.

Remember that though a men's-type electric razor is great for your face -- and the Norelco ones are particularly non-irritating -- the men's-type razors are no use for anything other than the shortest of hair, so be very careful if you're thinking of using them on your legs or elsewhere. They're only useful for a "finishing" job.

I have been shaving since I was around 15-16. I have hair almost everywhere so I have become a slave to shaving. It means I can't go camping or somewhere there is no shower, that impulse trips are out of the question unless I have a razor with me and that even if I shave in the afternoon I can feel the stubble later at night. I HATE IT!! I have cried many times and felt like a total freak.

I finally went and had a laser treatment done and I am about to get a second one. I don't really find that the first one did as much as I wanted but I am hoping this one will. I also know my aunt has PCOS and she is taking metformin (high dose) and it has done extremely well for her.

Hold on and find the solution thats right for you. I really think its time someone stepped up to bat for women with PCOS and having it covered under insurance. It may not be life threatenting but it sure has effected my life, my relationships and my confidence.

    Best of Luck

I know many of you said waxing was no good, but I found a great wax. It is for "brazilian" waxing, uses no cloth/paper strips, just gets firm and you peel it off. Cant remember the exact name(has brazilian in it), but it comes in a small red and white box and I get it at walmart. I do my face, and also my arms, which helps with KP. Even had to do my belly for a while, but it stopped growing back after a few months of pulling it out. Good luck ladies.

    Default Consider Laser!!!

    Hi ladies,

I know your misery! I can't recommend laser enough! American Laser Centers offers financing. I spent thousands on electrolysis years ago, and it didn't make much of a dent. Tell your family it's what you want for the next b-day's and holidays, it's so worth it!

    Hi worriedwoman!
I can completly relate with you!!
I'm 28 (will be 29 in 15 days) and I've been shaving my beard, mustache and sideburns/cheeks since I was 10, yes, TEN years old!! My beard, mustache and facial hair is EXTREMELY dark, being JET BLACK and it is very very VERY coarse hair, just like a mans beard!!

My AF first came to visit when I was 9 years old (about a week after my 9th bday).

Around 9 1/2 I started noticing the hair growth under my chin and on my neck.
I didn't have the best mother and I just recently (within the past few years) started getting all of these problems addressed (due to no insurance and not being able to afford it--still in the same situation-no insurance, cant afford much)

Sometimes, I shave everyday. If I am just staying home and have nowhere to be, I don't. My hubby doesn't mind, he completly understands!

It has been very hard for me throughout my life. I am always embarassed and my self esteem is extremely low.

When I do shave, I get HORRIBLE razor burn and sometimes I get a rash.
But, when I'm working every day, I have to shave because I litterally grow a full beard and a pretty thick mustach, and hair grows on my sideburns and my cheeks pretty good too.

Sometimes, my hubby jokes that I grow a better mustach than he does!

I can't wax either! I've tried three different times, with 3 diff types of wax, and EVERY time I get "mini zits" and horrible rashes.
I've tried nair, but I break out really bad because I have extremely sensitive skin, and I have psoriasis, so I have to be careful what sort of products I use.

I have NOT tried a venus razor for my neck/face hair (only for my legs). I tend to stick with the mens mach or gillette razors.

I've found a VERY handy trick of "unclogging" the razor and making it last for two or three shaves. After I remove the razor from my neck/face etc... I hit it on the side of the sink and then I run it under extremely hot water. I have noticed that when I smack it on the side of the sink, alllllll that hair comes out between the blades and it doesn't stay clogged.

So, this might be something you can try with your venus as well, because I know that the blades on the venus are closer together. this is a very hand trick for when you shave the bikini area as well.

I agree, I hate PCOS as well and I really wish there was an easier way than shaving with my hubby!!

What I have noticed since being on Metformin is that when I do shave, my beard and mustache etc... grows back FASTER. I've also noticed that since being on met. It grows in thicker!! its like the met. is feeding my system as a hair growth product!!

So, I think the fact of met. working for some women to slow or stop hair growth really depends on each girl/womans body. It works good for some and not so good for others.

I hope that eventually you find something that works better than shaving.
