Question Yet Another Post About Provera

I finished my 10 day course of Provera on Monday July, 9th. Tomorrow (7/16) will be the 7th day since finishing the pills, AND I STILL HAVEN'T GOTTEN MY PERIOD

    I have heard that
    1. you are supposed to get your period during the 10 day course
    2. you are supposed to get your period within 5 days of taking your last pill
    3. you are supposed to get it 14-21 days after taking your last pill.

    Which of these is correct?

I am so confused! Should I just email my doctor? This is so frustrating.

Well, I was told by my RE the first time that I took it, to give it 3 weeks after the last pill. However, for me Provera has never brought AF. I am currently giving it another try, and this time my RE added some extra estrogen to see if that helped. So, I don't really have an answer for you, just wanted to tell you my story!

    Thanks for your response Monica!

Does anyone know WHY Provera doesn't work for some people?

Mine always comes during the 10 day period, but I've heard the same about it taking up to three weeks after the last pill. Hopefully, (one thing you think you would never say to someone else) your af will start soon.

It seems that it works differently for each cyster. I guess it depends on how much progesterone our individual bodies respond to.

I hated this stuff with a passion, and I remember I had to adjust how much I took to get a period within a decent time frame.

    Talk to your doctor.

Provera doesn't work for women who have low levels of estrogen. YOu need estrogen to build a lining...so if you don't build a sufficient lining, you dont' bleed.

You will not (or should not) get AF during the course of Provera. You will get it afterwards...everyone is different. For me, I get it 3 days after my last pill (10mg for 10 days) and 5 days after my last pill (5mg for 5 days)

That must be why Provera doesn't work for me. RE always says that my lining is thin. And, my estrogen is low. This time I took Provera with some extra estrogen...no luck yet.

    Sorry for highjacking your thread
