    Unhappy i ruined myself

i used to be very pretty and had so much llllllllllong thick shiny hair and i had an eating disorder for too long and over- exercised and as a result messed up my hormones, thus making my hair fall out in piles. has anyone had a similar experience or any treatment suggestions? i lowered my estrgoen by doing so. shoudl i just get on a BCP to regulate things again or just an anti-androgen or both? or do you think i should just resume healful eating and my hormones will stabilize naturally????????????/ thanks for your input

aslo does anyone know if ambien and ativan affect hormones?

    oh man.
bcps regulate estrogen and make you able to have periods again, which i'm assuming you haven't because of malnutricion. Having periods will help with getting your body back regulated.
You should definitly see your doctor and/or a dietition and get their recommendation.
I had an eating disorder aat the beginning of high school but didn't lose terribly much weight becuase of the pcos-relatedinability to lose weight! I skipped a few periods but never had my hair fall out. Definitly eat healing foods full of protein and nutrients [black beans, brown rice, fruits, vegetables, salmon, blahblahblah you probably know this already) to help renourish your body and help your metabolism regulate again.
    good luck and much love

I never suffered from an eating disorder (not that that didn't stop my family complaining at how I ate) but I'd just worry that starting BCP's before your body has had a chance to heal. Periods stop because the body can't sustain the losses associated with a bleed etc, I'd suggest restore your body, if things don't work out (& they may not) then try another method e.g BCP.

Like fendr, I think the best thing is to seek medical advice. BCP's can cause plenty of trouble even in those of us who are 'healthy' (if u don't count the PCOS).

Good luck! & Don't hesitate to talk to us here if u want, we'll help u as much as we can, we are a caring bunch
