    Default Newbie Possible PCOS

    Hi:

I am 42 and was diagnosed hypothyroid 3 years ago. At that time I had initially visited my dermatologist because of hair loss who found the thyroid issue.

However Im wondering if my resistant symptoms may be pcos related.

    1. My periods are regular but last only 3 days and are very light.
    2. I have hair loss, very noticable in the front.
    3. I have lots of weight gain _ which is a hypo symptom
    4. I have a few chin hairs i have to pluck but no excessive facial hair or any extra hair else where.
    5. My derm tested testosterone which was 37 range 20-76
and my dheas which were 208 range 52-400

Since hypo and pcos symptoms can mimic one another, I dont know if I should get further tests done.

I dont have insurance so its very costly for me to do something thats not warranted, does anything on my list of symptoms sound very pcos?
    thanks

It doesn't hurt to go get checked out. Those do run similar to PCOS. Since I know that it's hard without insurance, do a bit of research on PCOS and hypo. issue. If you don't feel comfortable after that with the original diagnosis, tell them what you found and insist they test you for it. Good luck!

I understand that it doesnt hurt to check, but what I wanted to know is that if my symptom list shows something as a possible definite, because spending $1000 that I dont have is not feasible for something thats just a maybe.
