    Default Newbie!

    Hello Everyone,
I have been lurking around this site for some time now, but have just signed up! I abosulutly love it! I was just diagnosed in July of 2007 as I have had irregular periods since they began, along with severe hurtism (the most aweful part) and acne in my twenties. It was a heartbreaking diagnosis. All I have ever wanted is to have children. My doctor tells me that I will not be able to know until my df and I start trying (we are getting married in January and waiting to have sex until then). Now I have all this wedding stuff to worry about on top of everyone telling me, when are you going to have kids?!?! I want to tell them, "you don't even know if I can have kids!" Anyways, sorry to ramble. I really appreciate any advice on herbs or meds to take! I love everyone's compassion on this site!

I know how you feel. I found out something was wrong 2 weeks before I got married. Everyone asks me "When are you having kids?!" I've been married for 3yrs now. We haven't actively tried yet. I'm trying to lose another 50-70lbs before trying. It hurts a lot wondering. I can tell you one thing though, if you're having periods without birth control pills, it's a very promising sign. (Even if they're not every month.)

Nice to meet you! I'm fairly new myself.

Since you asked abt meds/herbs: I see that you take Vitex- that is great. It works best for me paired w/dong quai. You'll notice a whole lot of Cysters are on Metformin. Try reading those threads- my periods came back for the first time in years after a month on the stuff (lots of us are insulin resistant and that helps it.)

And you will most likely be able to have kids- just varies how much time and effort you have to put into it! Most women who aggressively seek pregnancy achieve it!

    Welcome to SC!
Congratulations on your wedding! I don't know how your family works, but mine can be very intrusive - without meaning to be of course! I usually tell one person, a cousin or aunt I am close to, when something is bothering me and before long word gets around and people stop intruding and asking questions.... I don't know if that will work for for your family, but it helps me from having to explain the same things over and over....
My in-laws however are completely different - but that's another story for another day!
    Good luck!

WOW! You all are so kind to respond and welcome me so warmly. I guess it's just hard because my family and future in-laws keep saying things like: I can't wait to be a grandma, aunt, grandpa...etc. I also know that TTC can be a huge strain on a marriage. I guess I shouldn't worry about it too much as we haven't even started trying.

BTW: What is dong quai? That is something I have never heard of!

drebee: I am getting married too, in Vegas over Christmas, and I'm already worried abt what if it takes us forever (or never) to conceive- my DF has an infertile sister and his mom worries so much already. But I am sure we will both get our BFPs! I hope your wedding is everything that you have always dreamed it will be.

Anyway, dong quai is another regulatory herb. It has been used in Chinese medicine for female cycle problems (cramps, irregular periods etc) and works well in conjunction with vitex, and with other herbs (not so well alone.)

Jeminijad: Thanks for responding! Maybe I will have to try dong quai. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! I am sure you are just about as stressed as I am right now! I hope you get the BFP you are hoping for!!

I saw you are taking red raspberry. Do you take that in a tea form or herb form? Do you think it helps?

Hi & to SC! I totally second what reignstayr said. My wedding memories are some of the best I have!

I know it's hard when people are asking, we've been married almost three years now and with the holidays and seeing all the family we're getting asked a lot about when we're having kids. We just smile and tell them we're enjoying our time together and when the time is right we'll make it a little bigger.
