    Default Epilators

Does anyone use an epilator? I am considering buying one, but I am really afraid that it will hurt like the dickens. Please let me hear your opinions on this product!

I got the Braun Silk Epil about a month ago. I love it so far. I doesn't hurt like the old ones did. There is a little prickly sensation on my legs when I use it, but no more than waxing. If you have already been waxing, it probably won't hurt much at all. It was painful on my upper thighs, where the hair is thicker, the skin is looser, and the hair seems to be growing in five different directions. It hurt the first time on the armpits, but has been a breeze since the initial removal of all the hair. Now I just maintain about every 3 or 4 days, and it's nothing.

I love my epilator. Yes it hurts to start with but you can go at your own pace, its not messy like waxing can be and the results are definately worth it.
I bought my first epilator cheap 2nd hand because I didn't want to waste lots of money if I didn't like it. But I loved it and ended up getting a brand new, end of line, rechargeable one for $40 (down from $120).

I just started using an Epilator last week. The brand I have is the Emjoi. Its really does work. I used it on my chin and upper lip, but I had to stop because I got really REALLY bad irritation bumps in both places.

The down side is that yes, it was very painful at first on my chin, but EXCRUTIATING on my upper lip, hurt so bad I cried. Also, the one that I have doesn't get all the hairs out at once, uness they're long enough for the tweezers to *grab* them. This resulted in my epilating my face every night for about 5 nights, which led to the irritation bumps. I've learned now that I need to let the hair grow out long enough (so embarassing but it will be worth it) and just epilate one time to reduce the irritation.

I got so fed up with the irritation though that I shaved today so basically when my skin heals I'll be starting all over.

But overall, I really do love the epilator and recommend it, just be sure not to make the same mistake of using it a million times in a sensitive area when you first start out!

to keep those little bumps down. i have been told to get a piece of ice and rub it in the area where the bumps comes up and that should help in that area. dont know if it is true or not because i havent had the chance to try it yet. but i wanted to share that with you.

ok so i used to shave my face with disposable razors. now i wax. i was wondering if an epilator would word well on my face? forget about pain...i just want something that will work. i'm not happy with waxing because it doesn't get it all for me.

can anyone recommend a certain brand of epilator for facial use?

I bought and emjoi epilator and us it on my chest. it sure saves alot of individual plucking and it hurts but is livable. The things we girls will do to try and feel more female. I wont try it on my face cause im afraid so I just shave there.

I also have the Emjoi Tweeze model. I know what you are saying about the upper lip...it literally brings tears to my eyes! I find that I can't even do it long enough to get all of the hair because it hurts so much! Luckily my hair is blonde and I tell myself that nobody can really tell (I don't know if this is true or not, it's just what I tell myself).

I do use my Braun on my chin and neck, but never on the upper lip. I made one attempt at it and was immediately sorry. It's way to painful. I stick to waxing on that area.
For you girls that get bumps and ingrowns, I highly reccomend Queen Helene Facial Scrub. It exfoliates the heck out of your skin and puts an end to those little bumps. I use it everyday. Bonus, it makes your pores look smaller too. I get it at Rite Aid or Ulta. It's around $2 for a big tube. I use it on my body as well.

I bought an Epislim a while ago and I'm so amazed by what a difference it's made for me. I only use it on my inner thighs/bikini line and my lower belly area. I've always been so self-conscious about those areas; they were always razor-burned and I had ingrown hairs. Now I barely think about them, except for a touch up every week or two. The Epislim is cheap, too- I got mine for $15 on Amazon.com- and it's small so you can use it on your face. I tried it on my face but it gave me some red spots on my neck...I think my skin may be too sensitive for it. I recommend it trying it, though- it may work for you.
