Default Craving sugar and chocolate all the time

I am so tired of how badly I crave sweets all the time. Even after I finish a meal and am no longer hungry all I can think about is eating something sweet.

I need to lose weight to help with my diabetes. But I swear it seems like no matter what time of day I am wanting candy. When I do decide to go ahead and eat something sweet I have trouble stopping at a reasonable amount.

I have always had a slight problem with this but in the last few months it has gotten unreal. I have never had it this bad. Part of it is stress since my 70yr old mother with dementia has moved in with me. Plus I have been running a fever for over a week and I am on antibiotics for 30 days for a skin rash.

Right now I would love to go buy a chocolate cheese cake and eat half. I am not normally such a pig.

    Any ideas???

I used to have the same problem i would eat a chocolate bar evey day. Even when i would resist the urge all day i would end up running to the convienent store for one at night. The craving just got worse the more i deprived myself so i had to figure out different methods of slowly getting my dose of sweet so i dont end up with one big craving and pig out on cake or muffins and feel like sh#t afterwards.

i found that buying a bar of dark chocolate (not a small one, its those big ones) and cutting up all the squares and then i would put them in a container.
I would start off with just 6 sqaures through out the day and slowly decrease the amount over time. or i would also buy dark cocoa powder and mix it in some hot water like a chocolate milk and sip it whil i relax at home. Dont buy chocolate milk mix because thats full of added sugar and preservatives and who knows what else?
better to buy straight cocoa powder and you dont need to use too much because its pure and then you can control how much sugar you put in yourself; cocoa powder is great for dipping peices of bananas in as well.

I found for me it was really just the taste of chocolate or something sweet that i needed and fruit didnt work.
after a while my cravings went down because i combated it mentally and now I will treat myself on my days off with a peice of chocolate cake.

    Hi
I also get sugar cravings, it is all part of been insulin resistant. I went to a dietician the other day as want to lose weight. I am not a big eater but do have a sweet tooth. Basically she explained it like this......
Insulin is a hormone needed to make cells do their metabolism bit, people with PCOS have high insulin levels which instead of insulin doing what it needs to do it starts producing the androgens/male hormones which lead to the facial hair acne. Basically Insulin (the correct amount) is like a key that opens our cells that are needed to break down sugar. Turns out part of my reason I am overweight is I go too long without food, then sugar drops, and I eat ice cream or other quick fixes. She has advised 3 meals a day Breakfast, lunch and dinner, no skipping meals. The only thing she said was a no was white bread, and mayonnaise. Fruitwise strawberries and pineapple are not good for us. I explained I've put up weight while on ww as I was told in ww stawberries very low in points. They are if u are not IR if that makes sense. I'll give u example of what she advised me to eat,
Cereal with low fat milk Big bowl no sugar! or small cereal and 1 slice wholemeal or any brown bread.
Lunch Wholemeal pitta with 1 slice lean meat, low fat cheese, lots of salad, no mayo if u can help it.
Dinner any lean meat, even pork chop fat removed and grilled, 2 potatoes and lots of veg. If hungry in between snack on fruit or low fat yoghurt. She was lovely and said dont give up if u eat something u are not supposed to as the diet she has given me should help keep the cause of the cravings at bay. I'm back in 4 weeks for my weigh in so wish me luck.
She cost 90euro but she spent almost 2 hrs with me, review appointments 30 euro so cheaper than ww in the long run.
Please note I am onlt 2 - 3 stones overweight so if any of u girls need to lose more weight than I do u would be allowed to eat more. I have M.E. also so cannot work out everyday so take everything into account.
Sorry this is longwinded, hope it helps

thats interesting... i'm on ww and its working. slooooow but working. i started weight watchers before i was diagnosed with pcos. when i went to see the nutrionist i told her i was doing weight watchers. She had nothing to say to me. it was a total waste of time.

i crave food all the time. have you tried the chocolate/oats fiber one bars? they are amazing! almost too sweet. just so i feel like i have gotten my chocolate fix, i pick out the chocolate chips and eat them at the end. and as a bonus it leaves you full becuase of 9 grams of fiber. i also try to eat sugar free chocolate pudding, lowfat starbucks icepops (really good!), the 100 calorie packs are awesome also. try the hostess cupcake packs. you get 3 of them and they're even cream filled. cinnamon applesauce is always more delicious when you're craving something sweet. i used to go to the supermarket and buy a cake and eat it alone in like 2 days. sometimes 1. i can't remember the last time i did that. i can still easily eat a pint of ice cream though.

my best advice is to take it slow. never deprive yourself. its going to be a life style change. just go one day at a time and you'll be successful. its you eat a pint of ben and jerry's...get over it and put it in the past.

    good luck!

i love sweets and any kind of dessert. ice cream is one of my favorites. but anytime i eat sugar or carbs it just makes me more hungry and want more and more of it. But i found these really good fudge pops at wholefoods i cant think of the name it but they are gluten free dairy free and soy free only 90 calories and they are so good they are very soft and melty for a fudge pop but they flavor is so good. i wish i could think of the name. It also comes in lemon and raspberry but Ive only tried the chocolate.

i have the same exact thing. After any meal if its meat, pasta, whatever! i need to eat chocolate afterwards!
i am also on a diet(who isnt these days!) but theres these 90 calorie stix they have them in chocolate w/caramel or butterfinger and much more but those are the only ones i have. also keep a little thing of hershey kisses and take a few after dinner. just make sure you keep the bag out of eye site cuz you'll go for more.
Also if your a big on icecream they sell boxes of skinnyCow cones with all diff. flavors. Delicious!!
i hope that helps, just be wise with your choices and dont buy stuff you'll feel guilty about.

    Hi,
    Me again!
Hope u all dont think I come across all clever saying what diet everyone should be on. We are all different so just thought I would share the advise I have been given as it has given me hope, as for me ww was deflating as I honestly tried so hard but never got anywhere. I haven't got anywhere yet as wont be weighed for a mth, unless I weigh myself which I'm trying not too.
I just feel positive about this as she has given me a diet that has been made up for me so I hope it works. I will keep u all informed on my progress, and best of luck to everyone. I have got to a stage where I need to do something for my sanity. I hate been overweight, always felt bad about it as whe I was a kid I used to always be the fat kid, then I starved myself which was not a good idea, as I couldn't keep it up, if I did I wouldn't be here.
I have holiday booked for Aug to portugal so I'm hoping to get rid of my extra weight. I would like to lose 3 stones but dietician says 2 stones would be plenty and to be realistic.
Anyway! I'm sure most of u have been to dieticians and probably know more about t all then they do but just thought I'd give some FREE dietry advise lol...
Thank you for reading, hope it helps!

Hi all. I have the same problems. I let my sugar get low...then I grab a candy bar. Also when it is near my period , I start craving chocolate, caramel and even tuna...lol My cats love me a whole lot at this time. This is when I gain the most weight. I am started Byetta tomorrow in hopes to keep my sugar under control. Also it is linked to weight loss.....maybe it will take my craving away.

This may sound so odd and perhaps I'm the only one.....but since I went on Yaz my cravings for sweets & chocolate have almost disappeared. I don't think it's coincidence either. No change in diet or meds (except the addition of Yaz). About the time I started Yaz I haven't been craving things and my appetite is much smaller.

ME TOO!! The Yaz has helped immensely!

i used to be the same way. i even went on a sugar diet becuase i decided that i had no need for real food in my life, aside from chocolate and other sugars of course. i did lose weight because i was only eating about 700 cals of that crap but obviously, it only last about a week or so. i think one of my biggest problems was the birth control i was on at the time (the ortho evra patch) that greatly contributed to my cravings and drinking a lot of diet soda. anything with high estrogen levels will give you more cravings for sugars even when you're not really hungry. so yaz has helped because its high in progesterone and low in the estrogen dept.

the other thing is diet soda. the fake sugar makes your body crave real sugar really badly and since theres soo much fake sugar in there, your cravings are that much worse. plus the carbonation expands your stomach, making more room for more food. as soon as i cut that out of my diet, my cravings greatly dissipated as well.

But DEFINITELY take a look at what hormones you're ingesting. thats a biggie.

    ^^
I pretty much noticed it right away. Within the first week or two and I dropped about 10lbs within the first month too. granted, i had gained that weight quickly and sort of let myself go so it wasn't really what my "real" weight was but it came off as soon as i got off the patch. but i definitely don't crave sugar and chocolate nearly as badly as i did when on the patch and i have a much stronger guage on whether or not im hungry.

I don't crave chocolate. In fact I can't even really eat chocolate, the smell makes me sick. I know I'm in trouble when I start craving spring rolls. Mmmm. Crispy, greasy, tasty spring rolls....

I noticed the Yaz helped me within the first month and I would say after the first week. I didn't really think about not craving that stuff. I just realized it the other day when my Mom and I were walking down the Valentine's aisle and I saw the candy and thought wow I haven't even wanted any of that in since.....SINCE I started Yaz. LOL talk about a funny moment.
