    Default Problems with soy milk?

I was trying to cut out my love of dairy by switching to a low carb low sugar soy milk...but it seems to be doing more harm than good! I have noticed my weight hasn't dropped any more since being on soy milk and I'm really grouchy!!!!! Is this a reaction to my meds or the PCOS itself? I currently take the following:
    5mg Byetta 2x day
    500MG Metformin ER 1x a day
    Synthroid 50MCG 1x a day
    Prenatal Vitamins 1x a day

I used to drink soy milk and use soy products but ive been hearing bad things about soy. So i switched to almond milk and i love it. The sweented orignal kind has 60 calories per 8oz. Or you can get the unsweetened and its only 40 calories per serving. Rice milk is also pretty good.

Where do you find almond milk? I was able to find rice milk and soy, but I didn't really care for either one. Thanks

They carry it at most grocery stores its just a matter of where in the store lol most of the time i find it in the organic/health food region. I can always find it at publix and wholefoods (wholefoods is one of the only places that carries the unsweented but back home in destin where i live in the summer they only have publix and my mom asked if they could get the unsweetened kind and now the carry it!)

I don't know much about taking in soymilk on PCOS medication, but as far as I know, soy supposedly mimics estrogen. That could possibly be the issue.

Whenever I drink soy milk, I get gas and stomach cramps. Like another poster mentioned- soy does mimic estrogen so that could account for your grouchiness and not losing weight.

    fairy2323:

You might have a soy sensitivity. I recently found out (through an allergy elimination diet) that I had it. I can no longer drink soy milk or eat soy products - but the gassiness, bloating, and stomach pains disappeared. I still love the taste of tofu/soy, but I usually limit my consumption to very small amounts.
