sorry i had to go before i got to type that part. to be honest i was relieved, i mean we were married before she was diagnosed and it help bc i thought most of it was my fault. we had some fights and i had no idea what i did wrong and if i asked it would make her more upset, since she was diagnosed and has her hormones under control it is much better and a big relief to know i am not the one making her so upset.

    Slave,
I started dating my wife almost 20 years ago, very near the time she found out she had PCOS. I was 18 at the time, young and in love, and when she found out she had PCOS, neither of us really knew what the implications were. So, we basically ignored it.

Now, my reaction to PCOS is this: I'm very sorry she has it, but it really bothers me that she has let PCOS defeat her. When I try to bring it up, she gets defensive and is hurt. But if I don't bring it up, she continues to slide towards unhealthy living and weight gain. This has inevitably lead to bitterness on both of our parts.

I really do love my wife and we have a very good marriage. No marriage is without its achilles heel. I meant it when I said "...in sickness and in health..." But my advice to you: don't ignore the PCOS. Face it and deal with it early. He will love and admire you for being strong and taking this head-on.

Just some honest thoughts from an average dude.

    Gentlemen,
Thank you both for your responses, they are both very helpful. As I’ve said, it’s new to me & he say’s no matter what he’ll be by my side (which I DON’T DOUBT) but at the same time, he’s kind of closed off as far as, how he feel about the situation. I guess I’m just thankful to hear that there are men that just accept it. Actually, he is starting a diet with me, because he knows I’m not that great at staying on them by myself. For that I am thankful. So thank you again, guys for your opinions & what not. :o)

Just make sure you both don't eat the same stuff to try and lose weight! If he is like most overweight men, he needs to not only curb carbs but also watch his cholesterol, i.e. have less sat fats. You OTOH have to avoid high GI carbs like the plague but can have fats / animal protein full of cholesterol (within reason). Just my 2c.
If you think he is closed-off, ask some direct questions. He might actually reply Or at least say "I've no opinion".

he may seem closed of bc like most of us it is a "female issue" and us guys tend to duck and cover with anything of the subject. let him know about this site but let him come around in his own time

I guess my question is: When You First Found Out, What When Through Your Mind Initially?
    "It is about f!#@ing time!"

DW and I had suspected for a couple of years, but every doc we went to kept telling us that there were no problems, despite the fact that DW exhibited enough classic symptoms that even the densest first year intern could have made a DDx....

After that it was no big deal to me. Of course I worry about anything having to do with my wife's health, but I tend to view this as just another hurdle she and I will overcome together and something that will make having children all the sweeter when it does happen.

My heart just sank. I had dreamt of having children for so long that it just killed me that I would have to struggle, but at the same time it was good to know that it wasn't something I did it was nature and the disease. There are struggles, but you get through them the best you can. My best to you.
