    Angry Testosterone Level?!

    Hello everyone,

I usually post in the TTC area, but it might be more appropriate to post this here. My RE called (i had a laparascopy yesterday!) but he also mentioned that my testosterone bloodwork came back. He likes to see it under 50, and mine was 97!! I feel like a man or something, sheesh! But it helps explain some things.

Anyone else have this checked and remember their testosterone levels? I'm starting Metformin later this week and it should help with this, among other things... i hope!

    Any feedback appreciated! Thanks!

I was diagnosed in Nov of '07 and my testosterone level was 122. A couple of weeks ago it was down to 114. =( Talk about feeling manly!

    Shannon,

OOoooh, how's the Met treating you? I'll be starting it later this week. Then in time, perhaps Clomid as well.

Good luck to you, too - hope your next results are an improvement!

Mine was 96, 6 months ago. I just did another blood test and am waiting on the results. I will post them here when I find out. You ladies are not alone!

    Hey!

I just htought I would make you feel better and tell you my testosterone is/was >130. I guess that is why i have that 'hard driving' personality everyone keeps talking about. i wonder if it is why I lose my temper almost instantly and have little min-rages. I also have an off-the hook sex drive.

I have just started a 'real' dose of Met myself (along with spiro), so I will be in this with you. I am slowly working up to 2000 mg/day. My endo says that this level is unusually high even for someone w/ PCOS, so i am also getting a CAT scan for my adrenals.

My test. level was at 109 a year ago (not been tested since) and my dr. told me that it was only slightly elevated. I knew he was full of it! I just started my Met a month ago and Im hoping to soon see something that resembles improvement. Thus far I've had not a single side effect, not a single pound lost (actually gained 3lbs), nothing that would even show Im taking the med.

Well I got my new blood work results back. 6 months ago my testosterone was 96, this time around it was only 73! Which is supposed to be in the "normal" range. Some offices call anything below 50 normal. So i still consider myself high-normal.

Yeah, my OBGYN said that anything above 44 for a female my age is the danger zone.

My testerone in September last year was 200. Yes...that was 200. I have gotten a total hysterectomy since then and I should have my new numbers in in a couple of weeks when I go see the doc.

I would love to see something below 100 now.

I was DX in Feb 2001 and my testosterone was 44 (the total testosterone) and the free testosterone was 4.13 exceeded all the reference values on the lab sheet. I was tested again in June 2001 after starting Met and the total testosterone was at 40 and the free testosterone was at 1.14 which was within the reference values for BCP's.

I guess you and the PP's are talking about the total testosterone values? I wonder if one is more important than the other?? Anyone know?

Edited: I hope I didn't sound snotty! Like..."well MINE was 44..."! That was within the limits but my free testosterone well exceeded the reference ranges.

Mine was a bit high the dr. said. Forget the number actually. So having it high does that make you desire to have sex more than if it was lower?

I'm noticing that since I've been taking Met now since the end of March, I'm not as "in the mood" as I was before??? Thoughts?

I think I'm PG now... 11 dpo.... so I'm not sure...

    Anyway... just curious...
